Hello poet Tempeste! I don't get the whole voting thing. I voted for yours because it was so clearly the best in my opinion. It deserved MUCH higher recognition. Thank you for giving me a smile about my favorite season.

Your poem paired with the photo made me smile. It brought back memories from when I was young and we had a bundle of kittens enjoying their first autumn by running down a hill and jumping in a pile of leaves.

Ciao!,
I'm glad my wee peom had such a soothing effect on you.
My afghan Abdullah loved to nosedive into the piles I made.
We had three giant beech trees. The reddish brown autumn leaves dangling in his long fur, resembled Christmas ornaments. (biggrin)
Keep safe!

This poem is adorable! Humans aren't the only creatures who enjoy piles of leaves. Nice work!!!!! Good luck with the contest and happy writing!!!!

Thank you so much for the kind review.
We had three giant beech trees and in autumn I would rack them together and a guy who had a big nursery took them away for free in his van.
My afghan loved to nosedive into the piles, his coat was full of
vibrant copper leaves which looked like Christmas ornaments.

This ode, Rumpled, presented with a 5-7-5 formatting, finds the family cat having a romp in the fallen leaves, wondering perhaps, -- Who will clean this mess up?

When we lived near the lake we had three giant beech trees and my Afghan dog, Abdullah, loved to nosedive into the piles I racked together. They looked like Christmas decorations in his fur.
