I enjoyed reading your poem. My youngest son used to say: the moon is out." Almost every night even when he couldn't see the moon. Your poem is very descriptive and well written.

It is a solid piece. "Oh, Mr moon!" I said aloud
"Your beauty reigns this solemn night
I do pray please make me proud
and take from me this wretched fright." Stuck out the most. This poem feels different and unique from other moon-related poesms I have read. Thank you for sharing your work.

Hi Katie, I must admit, that the moon has never affected the quite that way. I'm wondering if you'd had an issue with clown faces as well? I loved your well written poem. I'm glad you've moved on. Ulla xcx

I saw a strange movie about the moon as a real young kid
The picture I used if from that movie. That probably where I got the images from
I was probably just on some real strong cough syrup at the time and hallucinated.
Thanks for the review!

"The Man In The Moon"...for some, he is frightening and reminds them of ghostly or scary things. For me, he was always filled with romance. I pray you have discovered the happy side of him.

This poem, Mr. Moon, presented with seven ABAB-rhymed quatrains, gives a little insight into a child's search for friendship when the world offers little of it.

What a delightful story in verse taking the reader from your experience of fear of the moon (as a child perhaps) to your calmer sense of charm and enjoyment as your older self! Your verse rhymes beautifully and I like the way you've broken up the narrative with dialogue in the middle, thus personifying the moon still more. Excellent! Well done and good luck! Debbie

Hello, Mystery Writer,
Love the imagery of your poem, and it is certainly relatable as I grew up living across the street from a 200-year-old cemetery, and when Mr. Moon was full, well, I was often terrified.
Two edits to consider:
Throughout your poem you refer to the moon in the third person, singular.
But in the following line, you write,
It's (His) beauty decked in ivory shrouds.
And one tiny nit:
"Oh! Mr moon"( "Oh, Mr. Moon,") I said aloud
Thank you for sharing.
Best Wishes,
diane

Once upon a time, I actually believer that my path was being guided by forces beyond my control and there are many myths tied to the moon, the stars and sundry applications, but I don't believe we are puppets, but we are slaves to our own choices, I know you wrote this with tongue ensconced in cheek, and. A very good entry indeed, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

I had seen a movie about the moon as a kid and I think the whole thing was just a strong cough syrup hallucination I had while lying in my backyard looking at the moon.
Thanks so much for reviewing Roy!

The way my childhood went, if my parents knew the moon was talking to me, I would have been put on medication and sent to therapy twice a week lol. I enjoyed your poem but i agree, the picture is kind of creeping me out. :-) Thanks for sharing.

The picture comes from a movie about the moon I saw as a child. I think the whole thing was a strong cough syrup hallucination I had while lying in my yard looking at the moon which I liked to do.
Thanks so much for reviewing!
