"It helps to give it all to God" is a perfect last line. It all sums up your words, we need to turn everything over to God. Excellent faith based poem about the importance of prayer and I like your variety of people you pray for in your words. I also like your verse where you pray for the person with anger, it makes the reader think.

This is a beautiful poem, Debi. So many people need prayers in this world today to deal with all the challenges they face whether due to political strife, war, natural disasters, illness, oppression, and so many more. Your rhyme is great, it has a good flow. (I would make one small change--stanza 4, line 2, I'd switch "to" and "not" to make it a smoother line.) Well done, my friend!

Hi Debi,
Love your poem about prayer. I learned a long time ago that we shouldn't worry about things. It causes stress, lack of sleep, headaches, and high blood pressure. Instead, we need to pray to God about them.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
When out first son was born, Matthew, they took him for x-rays right away. His liver and spleen were swollen, and pressing on his lungs. After six days of tests, we were told we'd have to take him to the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital for children in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They scared us to death with talk of deformed bile ducts and liver disease. But when we arrived in Halifax in the middle of the night, the doctors told us they'd perform their own tests and to forget what we've been told in Saint John. So ten days later, they told us he had full blown Hepatitis. He'd be crying a lot for 5 or 6 months with gas pains, but he would recover. And he did. He turned 48 on June 10th. The last test they did on him back in June of '76 was a percutaneous liver biopsy where they inserted a small needle into the liver to grab a sample of the liver for study. I remember that previous night, my wife and me, laying in bed and praying to God. There was nothing else we could do. Matthew was in God's hands. But as we prayed, I felt my body shrinking! My arms, my legs, my head... to the size of a baby! It was an awesome feeling, and I've never forgotten it. I think God was healing Matthew in that moment from something much worse than Hepatitis.
"I said a prayer for all today
If it's your life that I portray
Whatever path you may have trod
It helps to give it all to God" ... that repeating line, "I said a prayer for you today", is quite effective!
Nicely penned!
Thanks for sharing!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Kimbob, please forgive me that this has taken me so long to get back to you. I feel horrible.. I truly appreciate it more than you realize and I read it a few times but was so sure I had thanked you. I had five different other ones that I knew I had answered and even started taking screenshots of my thank yous to ask Tom what was going on.

I thank you for sharing your awesome story about Matthew. I love when God shows us those kinds of miracles. What a wonderful story of faith and love.

I have been blessed to see a couple also. Once when my lung cancer they said it wasn't curable, and after many congregations praying, it left by itself.
The oncologist accepted Jesus at the appointment when I told him I wasn't surprised as he said he couldn't believe it. How often does that happen?

So once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for not only this incredible review but for the gracious six stars too, my friend. Love you my dear brother in Christ and friend. Debi

    Hi Debi,
I love to hear things like this,
"The oncologist accepted Jesus at the appointment when I told him I wasn't surprised as he said he couldn't believe it." ... that's incredible!
I didn't mention, but when my wife & I started praying for Matthew that night before the liver biopsy, we both began by thanking God for so many instances that had occurred. Our old car, for example, would not have made the journey to Halifax. But I had been after a 1974 Chevelle Malibu Classic at Logan Motors for a couple of weeks. It only had 27,000 miles on it, so quiet but powerful with a 350 cu. in. motor and 4 barrel to boot. What a nice car! They want $4400 for it and I offered $3600. Of course, they refused the offer, and told me to come back in a week if it hadn't sold. A week later, I showed up at their office. The Malibu was still on the lot. I told them I'd bring up my offer to $3700, and they said okay. I couldn't believe it! It made the journey in the middle of the night so much easier.
There were many other things that worked out for us. Our pastor's wife, Nancy Clark, knew the Guinta's in Dartmouth. They had the Baptist church there. Frank drove across the bridge to the hospital, and we were sitting there in the lobby with Matthew. We thought he might be the doctor. But he gave us his house key and bridge tokens, and told us to follow him home after they took Matthew from us. We stayed with Frank & Donna Guinta for 10 days. They even went on a youth retreat down in the Annapolis Valley, and left us with their home. My work, Moosehead Breweries, gave me extra time and money for the stay. So many things. My wife went from a breast size of A cup to a D-cup! She fed 4 sick babies in the neonatal unit while we were there. And while we prayed and thanking God for all these things, that's when I felt my body shrinking. It was so awesome!
    Hugs,

Oh Kinbob, how touching! And the truth is if people take the time to be thankful they may see they have more miracles than they realized! Your story is beyond touching.
I have three called the gift and they were when Good told me Drs were wrong and I had to fight to save my family members life.
Amazing to have God in your life! We are blessed

Hi Debi,
I like the repetition in this poem that reminds us that prayers have power and we need to pray for those in need in any way. It is sad that children have to grow up seeing so much war and violence.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a great day.
Joan

Prayer is the greatest wireless connection in the World.
Your prayer poem is much appreciated by all and sundry. Was the girl real or just part of your prayer poem. "There is no death when eyes grow dim, there is no death when I think on Him." Thanks for sharing. K xx

Thank you Debbie for the prayer for the four individuals that you left unnamed but not unclaimed. And I thank you for the prayer for all of us. This is a very lovely tribute to the nature of prayer itself. There are those who wrongly believe Prayer does not work. There are those who wrongly believe they don't need prayer. And then you come along and pray for them. Awesome job sis.

Hi Dan, actually the fourth verse was written and patterned after what I live with day in and day out, but it was meant for all who also go thru a lot of pain. So as much as they had someone in mind the prayers could have been for many. I love to pray. I will pray for anyone, even my enemies. I am thankful that Jesus taught us how to do that.
Thanks for the kind words and for the generous six stars. You truly honor me and I appreciate you so much.
Thanks again, bro and love you to pieces. Hugs. Debi

This is beautiful and moving Debbie. We can use all the prayers we can get and we can help others by praying for them. So many people are hurting and worried about their own health and that of the loved one. We live in a trouble world so may we all pray more.

Your poem beautifully conveys a sense of care and compassion through your prayers for others. The repetition of "I said a prayer for you today" emphasizes your heartfelt intentions and concern for those in different situations, whether dealing with illness, conflict, or personal struggles.

The transitions between praying for your grandkids, addressing someone's anger, and reflecting on broader themes of pain and faith are handled with empathy and sincerity. The closing lines bring a sense of hope and trust in a higher power, which ties the poem together nicely.

Thanks a lot for the prayer. Yes. We all need it because we are living in a very chaotic and divided world. I'm glad you can turn pain and anger into a prayer so they will be better and be happier.

Thanks again for the prayer.
