To be honest with you, our destruction of our world is all manmade. Whether christianity or any other religion can save us is utopia . It never has and never will. On the contrary, if humans can't find greed or any other destructive thoughts to grasp power, then they readily kill in the name of religion. One thing is certain though, we don't seem capable of living in peace with each other. What a waste! Ulla:)))

Thanks again for the exceptional review. There is more hope in this poem than many realize. I personally feel less and less connected with this world and its culture. I am waiting on a new world to come. That is what the symbol of the moon in the poem is about. I know this is a dark collection, but I think it contains some of my best poetry. estory

"Know the truth and the truth shall set you free." Some say there is no God. It is so simple to ask Him for forgiveness, man's pride stops him asking. Yes, we are surrounded by ruins. God created the World and it makes perfect sense to see the imprint of His face on the moon. Excellent! K xx

It's true. We do seem to be stuck in the mire of our own making these days. So many conflicting ideas! So many upheavals and mistakes. It's harder to remain positive. Your poem brought all this to light.

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on this piece. It has been quite controversial, lots of positive and also lots of negative reviews. But there is light in this poem; the image of Christ's face on the moon, above the fray, above all the violence and decay. Hope lies in the grace and compassion of Christ. estory

First of all let me introduce myself my name is Liz. I'm writing what I know that's what I've been told to do and so every one of my books I've done is autobiographical and right now what I'm doing is I'm writing one about my brother Whobecame head injured because it car knocked him off his bicycle onto the windshield.
You have shown good use of the literary techniques of simile and metaphor. Well written and you are creating creating lasting images.

Thanks for your review of my piece, and for the postive feedback on the construction techniques. Welcome to the site, I guess, and I'd like to ask you what poets and writers do you read? I am mostly classically trained in that regard: Donne, Shakespeare, Coleridge and Keats, Yeats, Heaney, and Levertov, Elliot and Anderson lately. Thomas Mann, James Joyce, Tolstoy and Pasternak, Dostoevsky and Dickens. I like Cheever and Carver. estory

My favorite is ee Cummings if there's anything that goes outside the box that's me. My two favorite authors are Steinbeck and Jack London for their writing style. I've learned a lot from them such as stream of consciousness & what seems like a run on sentence but draws the reader in. My favorite book is Cannery Row. I got a PDF on line here of and I just love to read the first two or three paragraphs over and over again He goes on and on and on and other people might say oh that's a run-on sentence Oh but it's so good.

Cannery Row is a great book and I like Cummings too. He was real innovator. estory

This free verse, Moonstone, looks at the wasted world which follows wars with wars and denies Truth whenever it disputes their "facts". Somewhere beyond, though, there is a goal for us.

Thanks for the excellent review. I have to say this one proved quite popular in some ways; controversial in others. lots of positive reviews, lots of negative ones. Many thought it depressing, but I thought there was a lot of hope in it. You seem to have gotten the gist of it. estory

It is a wonderful thing to be confident in the fact that one day we will leave the the decay of this world behind for a promised place of peace and perfection. Beautifully written poem.

Thanks for the excellent review and your words of support for the poem. You were one of only a few people who saw the hope in that image of Christ's face in the moon. So many people gave me grief over it, said it was too depressing, They don't want to hear about Christ. The point I wanted to make is that man is flawed and needs saving. We've voted for capitalism, socialism, conservatives and liberals, and all of them are failures, because of their human failings. One thing to keep in mind is that collection was written while my father was dying, and after he died, and that was quite a sobering event for me. estory
Comment from Patty Mazzurco
Your poem captures a sense of yearning for something transcendent beyond the world's current state. The imagery of the moon pulling the tides and the savior's face sketched on the moon creates a strong sense of mystical longing.
The contrast between "the decaying world" and the distant, almost divine visions adds depth and intrigue. The line "impressions of angels, / The dead gathered like ears of wheat" is particularly evocative, painting a poignant picture of waiting and hope.

Thanks for the excellent review and your support for the poem. I'm glad you found so much of it had depth and intrigue. A lot of people thought this was depressing, but I felt there was hope in it, in the grace and compassion of Christ, as symbolized in the face on the moon. estory

There is an appealing timelessness to this poem, which is both thoughtful and very thought-provoking. Personally i agree that it is human nature, firstly to want to grasp power at the expense of others and secondly to focus only on one's self. Well written! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the poem. I always like to be thought provoking, so I am glad you thought it was that. I really tried to articulate the ephemeral nature of man's civilization and culture with this piece, and his failure, and his need for salvation. There is hope in that salvation. estory
Comment from Shirley Ann Bunyan
This is a work of profound feelings both of despair and also of hope.
'The faint outlines of our savior's face
Sketched on the moon's distant surface'
Beautiful words, skilfully delivered.

Thanks for your excellent review. You were only one of a couple who found that feeling of hope in the poem, in that image of Christ's face on the moon. I am glad that image worked the way hoped. Our world can be a depressing place, but in God, all things are possible. estory

I think what is responsible for a lot of the mess that we have made in our world as we have people who are not educating themselves about how or who to choose as their leaders of their land. They are going strictly by soundbites and soundbites. Do not tell you the story. Thank you for sharing this poem. I enjoyed it very much. Patricia.

Thanks for the exellent review and your perspective on the poem. What I was really trying to get here is the fact that there are no political solutions, as those are also tied to our failings as people. The only salvation is in Christ and his grace, his compassion. We have voted in capitalists, democrats, socialists, conservatives, liberals; all them have failed. estory
