I like poems that rhyme. This one has a definite rhyme scheme of abcb. I can suss out some meter too; about four beats per line. I like the topic. It reminds me of the late 1980s-early 1990s when war was glorified then too..... Doc Martins/combat boots came into style. Cycles. I need to write more.... thank you for this inspiring poem.

This Ode to War presents the sights and situations of the second world war with the chilling reality that the effects on the human spirit are monstrous to the point of dehumanizing the soul to enable any atrocities to be performed.

Excellent job in capturing the somber reality of war. I thought your word choices were excellent. What stood out to me was "scattered ruins" and "jolly red". The way you share the bloodshed with the hollow celebration was so powerful. Excellent work capturing the somber reality and emotional complexity of this experience.
