Congratulations on your Lonely poem contest win! You did a great job putting words to that sculpture. Your poem leaves the reader feeling empty just like that piece of art. Good job bringing out the emotion.

I saw this image on Facebook a couple months ago and was transfixed. What a SCULPTURE!!! But you took it the extra mile and created a poem for it that is absolutely perfect...and I am not the only one, obviously, who thought so, since it came in first in the Lonely Poem contest. No surprised there! Congrats. xoxo

A very good lonliness poem with very touching insightful lines on what being left alone would feel like the incredible photo reflects what it would feel like to have such a hole in oneself A winner for sure

Failure is the reward, or the punishment, for trying to clear the high jump, or go under the limbo bar of others.
Self image is the clear path. You can always be successful if your path is positive.
Accept reality; you are "Somebody." Do not search for the ephemeral acceptance of others.

Jessica, this poem is beautifully written. There are some wonderful lines:
...leave me lonely, wrapped in wounds? Wow ---"wrapped in wounds".
Then again, the last line when his leaving turns you to stone (hardens you). The imagery, too, is fantastic. It works so well with your poem. Congratulations on winning the Lonely Poem contest.

Wow, this is what great poetry should do; convey hard hitting emotions. I can feel the anguish of the subject. This is well constructed, the line spacing brings about the perfect pauses for the reader. Art inspiring art, great job.

Hello Jessica,
Marvelous. Simply marvelous poetry. You encased in words the topic of loneliness as few can, and chosen the perfect art work to accompany the verse.
I like to reference to the hole and the smooth transition to the hardening to stone. The repeated lines of anguish are superbly effective.
I suspect, based upon having read many of your poems, this comes from the depths of personal loss.
Best wishes to you.
Robert

I could really imagine what this person must've done to your narrator in my mind as I was reading. There are a lot of emotions in this piece that I thought you did a brilliant job of conveying, it is quite a heart breaking piece as well. Congratulations on winning the contest.

I love your poem and the picture is perfect. Such loneliness and emptiness! Your last line is chilling. I hope that your words were inspired by the sculpture, and not by personal experience. Excellent!
