After reading this I realised three things. One, you like a drink. Not a bad thing. Two, you play golf like me, handicap thirteen. And three, you pay your debts.
You also write bloody good poetry.

Oh my, I mat have made a 13 on the first hole, but that would be a good score for me! LOL. My handicap was that I couldn't hit the ball. Thanks, terry.

This was very funny. I'm glad you didn't stop the story in the middle. The final punch line was perfect. I like the overconfident beginning and the tongue-in-cheek ending. The back and forth of the bets kept the story interesting.

Hilarious competition, whether fully true or not, and a good way of keeping friends in touch and interest in the game high. There may be something in that suggestion for AA and GA.

Good story. I especially like the ending! Kirby has a great sense of humor, as do you! I'm glad to see Scottie won the gold medal, especially after his rough time in Atlanta this summer. Have a blessed rest of the week. Carol

There's lots of personality in the writing here, lots of humor, and that drew us into the story. To me, it's a story of how sports and being a fan can become a wider part of your life, and color many aspects of your life. It can make relationships stronger, even be the basis for them. I recall becoming friends with someone in high school because we were both Yankee fans. estory

Yankees were my team growing up too. Thanks, Terry.

So did you win a bottle of expensive whisky on that latest win? Or are you still attending the AA or something? Lol.
Great little story and a joy to read. I used to play a lot of golf, but abandoned it when I moved to Spain. Too busy sailing. Ulla:)))

Good work! Straightforward, funny and thoughtful with no fluff or filler. Gotta' love that.
Cheers! (Or should I say, good luck on your recovery?) *wink*

Well, it wasn't a great pay-off year for your gambling skills, but if I was a gambler, I'd bet it didn't affect your drinking too much either way. Thanks for sharing. I was just about to fly out for another two week journey and just happened to run across this post, which I'm glad I did.
