This is a most beautiful and heartbreaking poem with which, unfortunately, I can identify. My first two nieces and my first grandson all died in infancy. I have a book full of poems written about them, all with the same wish . . . if only. This is the most painful loss when those whose lives have barely begun are lost before their time. Your poem expresses this wish for one more moment together beautifully and has a wonderful presentation and rhyme. Well done!

Motorcycles are dangerous! Especially on busy roads with lots of traffic. Vehicles don't see the blind spots until it's too late! It's the facts of life, children die too! Not only in vehicle accidents but other ways. Drugs for example. Kids die everyday because our southern border is not secure. Fentanyl comes across from illegal drug trafficking. With an open border, it's easy to bring drugs to America. The politicians are to blame! They just responsible for the deaths of Americans which should be a crime to allow illegals to break our border laws. I feel your pain and grief. Things will get worse. I known young people that have died too! This is a wicked world and wars break out everywhere! Nice poem. And reality.

This poem really hits home for me. We lost my granddaughter several years ago at age 19. It has been very hard on all of us. Each phrase you mentioned, I think of every day. You wrote out these feelings very beautifully.

Hi, LanceHill
It is so sad when parents have to bury their children. It doesn't really matter what the age of the child is, although maybe a very young child is harder to bury.
Your poem is extremely beautiful. Rhymes perfectly with no set meter.
Very emotional it made me cry. I'm just recovering now
How old was the young man who died? And how are his parents doing?
It's not the same, but I lost my son-in-law. You shouldn't have to bury your son in law either. He was 51
But I hate to sound crass, but I sure am glad it wasn't my daughter
Since this is so emotional, I'm giving you six stars
I enjoyed reading your poem
Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for this beautiful review. He was 20. It's been a little over a year. They are doing ok, but still have bad days. I pray you and your daughter are doing well.

I can't even imagine because I've never lost a child. But I did find a child a child that I had given up for adoption when he was a baby and I was able to locate him when he was 35 and that has been a blessing in my life. Thank you for sharing this poem and I'm sure it touches the hearts of those who have lost children. Patricia

Hey, cuz, good to see a post from you. This is a strong, emotional piece you have crafted well. I can't imagine the pain a parent would feel. A pain that only God could heal.
I have a novel in the works here called Dodie Rae. Strong language, abuse, and terror. I'm enjoying crafting this piece and the reviews are boosting my confidence.
God bless,
Steve

This poem, One More, counts all the joys that can be found in the events of any common day with our kids. To lose someone is always painful, but to lose a child is especially bad.
