Your flamingo must have been a striking beauty in a place where it was least expected. Your words draw the picture so well. thank you for sharing.

Very nice free verse. We don't get to see those lovely birds here in Chicago, but I used to live in Fort Lauderdale, and always admired their grace and beauty. The same as I do this poetry. Well done.

Well if John Keats can write an ode to a nightingale, I'm sure you can pen one to a flamingo. And yes, sometimes birds can find themselves a long way from their usual home. In recent years we have had both kookaburras and pelicans near where we live - more than 900 miles away from their Australian homes.
I enjoyed the description you gave and especially your reaction (the smile)

Wow, to see a flamingo in the Northern hemisphere is so unusual. Is there enough of those shrimps that color these birds pink near Cape Cod? I really liked "her slender limbs posing
as if she is art alive".
Thanks for sharing this!

Although they sre no longer native to Australia, they were up to 140,000 years ago, but were much larger back then, I think their remains have been found, beautifully written, blessings Roy

I have never seen a flamingo live at any beach, so this must have been an exciting moment. I especially like these phrases used to describe her: "a southern beauty to admire," and "an unusual tourist unlike the human kind." Rod

The poem nicely paints the beauty of the bird, flamingo in vivid terms and its sighting in a strange land. Well written, dear Mermaids, and thanks for sharing your experience. Great job.

This poem beautifully captures the essence of a unique and charming presence amidst the Cape Cod waters. Your description of her as a "southern beauty" and "art alive" creates a vivid and engaging image. The contrast between her and typical tourists adds a delightful touch of whimsy, and the way you describe the ocean's warmth caressing her feet makes the scene feel inviting and serene. Overall, it's a warm and endearing portrayal of someone who stands out as a special guest in a beautiful setting.

This maybe the first time a flamingo has arrived on Cape Cod. Another one also showed up after this one. Thanks for taking time to read and review. Elaine
