Very good 100-word flash fiction. I didn't see any typos. Good scene setting. The twist at the end, albeit sad, makes a good flash fiction, as there's always a hope-fear-hope-fear dynamic going on in a good story.

Awe! Poor Ginger. What a heartwrenching story in only 100 words. I hope Ginger's new owner will treat her well. Maybe the other man was sick and dying or just unable to take care of her. You've created so many emotions for your reviewing audience.
God bless,
Steve

Hello AZS,
This is a clever piece; a different take on things, or at least a different point of view. You have created a very open space for a back story of the reader's choosing, and managed a full picture with plenty of emotion too.
I am sure you have counted, but I make it 100 on the (wet) nose.
Great writing - I hope you are rewarded for your efforts with this piece.
I wish you well with your continued writing.
cheers

phill

I love dog and cat stories, but this one almost has me in tears. That means it was well developed and written and your primary point was made. An owner could no longer care for his "good girl" and handed her off to someone who might find a good owner. An engaging story, told in only a few succinct words. Best wishes in the contest.

This almost made me cry. Okay, strike the "almost." This made me cry. I am glad this is fictional, though I know things like this happen every day. Best wishes to you.

Noooooooo.

I'm sure it's not the dogs fault! But people/families get a dog and do not realize the effort it takes to train/raise/care/feed etc etc a dog properly. And if you cannot do it properly you shouldn't do it altogether.

In your stories case the man hopefully gave Ginger to a loving family.

Ugh... such a heartbreaking story with a key last line!

Cheers,
John

Hi, I'm not sure about you listed as a general fiction, but your writing is so nonfictional because I'm a dog owner, and I've spent time with my fury baby like the way you've described in your writing. Your writing is good, but a 5 star take a step more work, like give a nice artwork of a dog and you or something to it, just because reader(s) like myself appreciated some sort of artwork, and not just only words to bring the story across. I wish you all the best!

A very sad story. But it happens, and people don't realise how dogs don't understand being abandoned or given to new owners. So confusing for them, and you captured this very well. Best wishes for the contest.

This short story, A Good Girl, has the proper word count and hits an emotional mark with me. I had to put our dog down and it destroyed me. If I were to consider my pet's thoughts, or heard them, I don't think I would have ever recovered. Powerful!
