It sounds like this poem is using more than one metaphor going on throughout the imagery, but the predominant one has to do with a very big storm.

We the people must stand together and untied this land from
the storm
I guess you mean 'untie' and not 'untied' to keep the verb tenses parallel. I am not sure how land could be untied. Maybe you can consider 'release' as a verb.
