Yes he should have listened to Garth! Now Nick is really hurt, and it's possible he'll die. That will please the Judge. But there are a few of the good guys who won't like it. Donatelli will have to listen to Garth now. But will he? Off to read the next chapter. :)) Sandra xxxx

Oh dear, the action I see heating up and a lot is happening. But it sure doesn't look good for Nick. He's beaten up badly and all evidence is suppressed. And what about Margaret's daughter? So well written. A big hug, Ulla xcx

Hi Ulla... Thanks for reading. I've got all your questions answered and everything is posted through Chapter 23....24 and 25 are in progress and I believe that will be the ending. I might wait to post those on the weekend...give people a chance to catch up for the finale. I think I have somewhere between 45000 to 50000 words. Not bad! LOL Thank you as always...Love ya, Carol

Donatelli is realising that Doyle is not really as pure as the driven, and that Garth Woodman should have been listened to. It's amazing that people don't realise that we're flawed vessels and that we can all go astray that's why we have communal watchdogs, beautifully written, blessings Roy

I think Donatelli was just being stubborn because of his feelings for Garth. Eleanor will get him straightened out.

Oh my! Did the judge make that attack on Nick happen? Poor guy. He should have talked sooner but the ransom money was all his idea not the judge's right? Margaret is starting to get a rude awakening!

Some questions: I opened this post yesterday so you could have edited:
where exactly didn't see these paintings?" (??)
Wasn't it Nick who hired Peter to get the ransom money?

Yes, the judge found out that Nick tried to cash in on the ransom money and he doesn't like anyone trying to get one up on him. Peter needed money so Nick thought to be on the safe side he would hire Peter to pick up the ransom but he would be watching. When he saw Jenna delay Peter, he got nervous and decided to grab it from the locker himself. Mistake!

Ah! That's what happened. Poor Peter will get there late and find an empty locker.

I think he saw Nick being arrested and is counting his lucky stars! Not to mention he got paid up front. LOL

Donatelli did get the right person (Nick) responsible for Megan's kidnapping, but, if he lives, he may not know what he did with her or know whoever took her away. The Judge has a long reach if he can get Nick assaulted. Garth is close to solving the art thefts. All parts of the story are moving in different directions like you are keeping several plates spinning in the air above your head. Very good mystery

Nick was the one responsible for getting Megan to the party, but he'd decided to wash his hands of it when he found out the judge was selling the girls. Instead, in his young mind, he decided to cash in on a reward.

As soon as it looks like things might fall into place, you have another surprise for us. Nick won't be talking any time soon, and the judge is on a cruise with his wife. Eventually, Margaret will realize she is on her own. Her lover boy had her daughter kidnapped. At least, Woodman and Donatelli might start working together.

I made sure I read this one first. I can't wait to read the next one, but Off to church right now. Will catch it later.

"He's FBI." Henry muttered. (FBI,)

Dylan insisted. "I know what I saw, sir. (insisted,)

Garth directed his next question to the guard. (guard,)

She finally decided it was worth mentioning. "Garth, (mention,)

From here on I'm just enjoying reading, not copying errors)

It looks as though the good guys (if there are any!) might get along better if Donatelli and Garth Woodman started cooperating with one another. Your last sentence suggests that this might be a possibility.

All over the love of a woman! But Garth's pretty mellow and I think he will get the hot headed Italian to calm down and move forward to solve the crimes.

A really exciting chapter, Carol. I loved the fast-paced action.
Ends up Nick wasn't much help in finding Megan. Her distraught mother is trying to get help, but the Judge isn't going to be that for her, but he was in town the night before when he was supposed to be one a cruise. Gotta wonder where that's leading.

Poor old Nick, he's taken quite a beating. I'm afraid the only help he gave was by what he didn't say.

Great job,
Hugs,
Rhonda

Nick thought he could double cross the Judge by asking for the ransom, but the Judge always gets even. Nick paid a hefty price. Thanks for enjoying this chapter.
