This reflection offers a profound and heartfelt tribute to both your father and mother. It eloquently describes the emotional and practical aspects of caregiving while capturing the enduring love and strength that guided your journey. The narrative gracefully acknowledges the lessons learned through this experience and emphasizes the importance of empathy and support for both the person with Alzheimer's and their caregivers.

This is a an excellent book and one that is needed. I 'm not sure if this is your story why it is listed as general fiction. Being a caregiver for so long is a test most people wouldn't be able to handle. Your art work is beautiful.

Thank you, Beth, for your kind words and for catching the "fiction" error which I have now corrected. I appreciate the attention you gave my story.

Alzheimer's is like a thief in the night... it steals our precious memories, but there is no way to stop it or know where it will strike next. My father was just entering the early stages when something else took his life. From the stories I've read, I was probably one of the lucky ones thought at the time it didn't feel that way. I say that because my father thrived on telling and retelling his stories and unfortunately it was heart breaking to see him forget how the stories went. Thank you for sharing.
Smiles and hugs, Carol

Congratulations on finishing this new edition of your book. It sounds wonderful. My dad also suffered with Alzheimer's for a number of years, so I look forward to reading your book. I'm impressed that you also illustrated the book, a true labor of love for your father. Blessings. Carol

I've taken a class on ways to support a patient with Alzheimer's, but I've never actually had to be a caregiver. As I read this post, I could feel your love, sincerity, and concern for protecting your father's memory.

I do not have Alzheimer's, but do have other ailments as a senior, and see my daughter's deep concern for my health. What you feel, I see in my daughter's eyes, and your description brought tears to MY eyes. I understand the value of your book and how it will serve as inspiration. I wish you much success with distribution and sales.

Your artwork is stunning.

Being the carer for a loved one, a husband, a father, is a difficult task, emotionally and physically, but when you add in the alzheimers, I think that would be even more difficult to cope with, at times. We never really think we will be the carer, I know I didn't. Well done on all counts, Ginda.
cheers,
valda

What you have posed here as questions or considerations is excellent. You may not have read my book I'm working on. He has tragically regressed as he's reached 77 and now he's gone back into some of his original stages of violence and inappropriateness. I know that sometimes Alzheimer's patients tend to have some of these characteristics also. The thing about my brother is he does not mean to be inappropriate, he does not mean to be violent. His brain which was damaged is doing different things now. The next to last paragraph is precious. Thank you for your vulnerability.

You are so smart to be able to pull away to work on your books! You published two already while I'm only dreaming about getting my book out. I just don't have the ability juggle and I'm pulled here to review.
Anyway, loved your artwork and I hope you included more of your paintings in the book. I've purchased it and should get it by Sunday. Thank you for sharing a very important story. I don't know how Alzheimer's affected your dad but for mine, it made it very hard for my mom to deal with. They didn't have the love relationship you describe. Anyway, congratulations!!

Helen, you always read with such an open and giving heart. Thank you for believing in my work and purchasing my book. I don't think we can ever appreciate how difficult it is for the care-givers, and should never judge them. They all need our care.

First, I love the painting. Thanks for sharing with us all. I can tell a lot by your painting what a humble person you are. I have been a caregiver for the past 15 years and I understand how hard to can be on family members when dealing with Alzheimer's. The title of your book speaks for itself and your exactly right when love endures all things. Your book will be on my list to read. Thank you for sharing. Your an amazing artist and writer.
