This is free verse all right no rhyming and no meter. But then again that's what the contest is asking for.
I like the last line of your poem. It is uplifting trying to get the reader to be the best version of himself or herself

Congrats on your first post! I enjoyed it! The imagery of standing tall and rising above shadows is wonderful. You share a sense of strength so well. I love how you blend physical act of standing tall with the idea of rise above temptation. Overall it was a wonderful message. Thank you for sharing this terrific poem!
