The third line catches us off-guard, and when we reach for a history book, or a guidebook, we realize we need to stop and ponder the events here in this site of commemoration.

I have no clue when our governments will ever understand that war doesn't solve any problems. War only makes them worse. We need God fearing governments. Thank you for sharing this beautiful presentation with us.

I agree with you. I wish peace for everyone in the word. One of these lifetimes we will learn from our mistakes and evolve to be loving and kind human beings.

Thank you very much, Barbara 😊

Your symbolism is very strong in this poem, as the red grass to me speak to tge blood that was shed on the battle field of this legendary tale. I remember seeing such a battle ensued as depicted in Cabrera PeƱa's work.

This is quite a chilling and haunting haiku, reminding us of wartime bloodshed. The sky is dark and the wind may, we hope one day, blow those memories away. Small edit in the title Me(a)dow. Nicely done, Gypsy. Debbie

Ah yes, I often wonder about where battlefields were once fought, I've been to old battlefields that were untouched by human hands, and some are overgrown with weeds and an eeriness, beautifully written Gypsy, blessings Roy

Ah, the "red grass" got its name not because it's a particular kind of grass but because of the bloody battlefield that took place on it and permanently changed the sense of that place. I hope all wars will stop and Putin will lose power and Gaza will be free from war! There are probably more wars we don't hear about ...
