I did that just yesterday. And my friend lost first place because I was distracted by something on tv. I couldn't tell him I flubbed up. I said something drippy, like he will always be number one to me. How pitiful did that sound? Good ditty. Karen

Thank you so very much! I do feel somewhat guilty for I noticed that the poem I wanted to vote for missed 3rd place by one vote. I will definitely be more careful in future! LOL!

The FanStory system to me is... rigged (poor choice of words, perhaps), and that doesn't bother me, for I write to please myself and hopefully others, but the authors that win-place-show are more often than not, repeat winners, as if they are in a clique where they support one another, only scanning other entries, and that leads to them to promote their entries with winnings. And another thing I'd like to see change is the 150 character requirement for reviews of 17 syllable pieces and Haiku's.

While it's always pleasing to be recognized by a prize in the contests, especially if they're blind votes, what I enjoy is being given a challenge and trying to meet it, trying out writing in other styles or genres out of my comfort zone, and reading the other entries to see how they handled it. (The prize money is helpful in promoting work so I don't end up in the poorhouse). But it's true I see many of the same names as winners--whether that's because they're extremely talented or their Fanstory friends are being supportive, I don't know. I agree the 150 character review requirement is a bit much, especially for very short poems. I understand wanting constructive criticism rather than just Great job! to collect the fee--but I'd rather have an honest opinion rather than someone rattling on with false praise to meet a quota of letters. In the end, this site and its challenges and opportunities for critique and improvement has gotten me writing again which I'd stopped for many years and forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Thank you so much for your review and comments. Much appreciated!

It can be frustrating when you accidentally choose the wrong thing and can't go back.
It is even worst, when you try to post something and you hit the button to send rather than the enter button on your computer to write another line.

Was this on fan story? Because I've had a lot of things go wrong on this site. Just yesterday, I did three reviews and tried to save them and was unable to save them. One of them took me half an hour the others probably 10 to 15 minutes. But yes, it is frustrating
