A Mother's Love is the best cure-all in the entire world. they spend millions of dollars making medicines that don't work half the time. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they could bottle a mother's love,,,especially for the times she's no longer here.

I enjoyed this feel good memory. The specifics you include help the reader engage with you and your mother. There is much tenderness in your write, it oozes out like the gooey cheese in the grilled cheese sandwich.
It's beautifully written from the POV of the child except when the mother steps into the kitchen. Well, if the kitchen was visible from the living room, I take back this comment.

This description of your first memory sent me into daydream land of so long ago, as I recalled my mom's soothing touch when I was sick. When I had a cold, she gave me hot tea with lemon.
I could feel your mother's tender warmth and love for you, as she prepared tomato soup and grilled cheese and ham sandwiches and then tucked you into bed. What a great memory. Best wishes in the contest.
