How many times do we find ourselves like the withering rosebud, hoping that someone or something will lift our spirits and bring life back into us? If only we would remember that our salvation is always by our side.

Verna,
This is a very beautiful poem. I felt for that symbolic, beautiful little flower.
I know your poem is spiritual in nature; but I couldn't help thinking of the abused animals who've given up on people, ones I hear so much about, how a loving person nurses them back to life.
Also, a child waiting for adoption, abused and alone, waiting to have a chance at being loved.
Exceptional poem, Verna.
Good luck with all your writing. Please keep sending it to me.
Afa,
Cindy

Beautiful poem of grace and faith... I loved the image of the sadly neglected rosebud -- and the incredible revival when nourished and nurtured. Our very souls can feel this forgotten, but when we lean on our faith, the Lord will see us through!

What a beautiful sentiment expressed in your wonderful poem. The presentation is lovely, the flow of words easygoing and natural, fitting so well together. The rhyme and meter are enjoyable and the message perfectly given. Well done!

I enjoyed the comparison of a dried up little rosebud being revived by rainfall to a withered soul being rejuvenated by the living water offered by Christ. It is an insightful and inspiring poem. Thank you for sharing.

What a beautiful poem, with its layers of excellence. I very much enjoyed the allusion to spiritual realities. Your words are well chosen, the rhyme is perfect and the metre is soft and flowing. (There is a little gremlin at the end of the fifth line to edit out.)

I enjoyed your sentiment and we all need the nourishment of care and love in life in order to thrive. Always well metered and rhymed, your poem is a pleasure to read Verna. The gremlins have attacked the end of line five. Love Dolly x

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, dear dear Verna, I would have hated to miss this wonderful and beautiful post. After what we talked about the other day, I am just so thrilled that I got to witness this amazing poem. So as much as I wanted to hold onto a six for part of the week, it was not meant to be because my sweet Verna was giving it her all.
Thanks so very much for sharing this with us. And thank you for writing about those feelings so wonderfully and perfectly. You do amaze me girlfriend and I am always there for you no matter what.
God bless you and never hesitate to let me know how you are doing. God bless my sweet and wonderful friend. Lotsa love, Debi

Well done, Verna! Your poignant imagery with the flower perfectly captures a sense of dryness of the spirit that needs "the living water" to rally and survive. Your rhyming quatrains are a pleasure to read and, characteristically, your message is a positive one inspired by your strong faith. Take care Debbie

Lovely meditation with the metaphor of the thirsty rosebud! I can relate on several levels - for one, my fuchsia basket was exactly as you described "dying hour by hour" as the 100 degree heat has killed off part of it. And yes, there are times when our souls thirst and only our Lord, the Living Water can quench than thirst. Thanks for this lovely reminder!
