I just put in some searches for Holocaust heroes and came upon him as well as at least one other Oriental who aided the Jewish people.

I don't want to go out quietly. I'm trying harder than when I was at college to learn new things.

Thank you so very much for sharing this fantastic story of a man who put himself in harms way in order to create a better outcome for his fellow man. It takes courage to go against the stream and do things that could be considered illegal when in reality, to not do it is immoral. Thanks again.

Hi, Jim. I hope you are well

I'll say he was another Schindler. We have to remember that back then China was a poor country being trampled by the Japanese.

The Chinese did not even have a country until Mau zedong declared it so in 1949. They were on our side in World War II

So, this man was probably risking his life in China, as well as in Europe by what he was doing.

I enjoyed reading your story

Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Jim,
Germany was a terrible place to be living in the late 1930s if you were a Jew. Hitler hated Jews. It was one of his biggest mistakes. If he had concentrated on the war instead of his evil plan to wipe out the Jewish population, Germany might have won the war.
I read the book, "The Hiding Place", in the early 70s, and saw the film in 1976. It's a wonderful story of Corrie Ten Boom, how her family hid Jews in their home. They were discovered in time, and sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp where her sister, Betsie Ten Boom, died in December of 1944. Corrie was 91 when she passed away, (April 15th,1892 - April 15th,1983). She was a writer and speaker most of her life. But prior to Hitler's Holocaust, she was a watchmaker like her father, Casper Ten Boom.

"In the first three months alone of this undertaking, twelve hundred (visa) were issued." ... (visas)

"They only came to light in after his death."
(They only came to light after his death.)

I never heard of Feng Shan-Ho, but I'm glad you told his story. He should be honored, like Schindler and many others. Actually, as of August/2023, the "Righteous Among The Nations" award has been made to 28,217 people. So deserving. We need to remember what Hitler did to the Jewish people. The Holocaust should never happen again.
Jesus said, "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." John 15:12

Nicely penned, Jim!
Blessings,
Kimbob

Thank you so much for your kind words! If you could stand the length and the detail, there is a 9 hour, 45 minutes documentary, "Shoal" which reveals the atrocities during the Holocaust, by survivors on both sides who were alive in the eighties.

It brings great comfort to know that there were, and still are, people who do the right thing to protect others. Their moral compass is aligned to protecting humanity, not destroying it. I read with great interest, the exploits of this man, and was encouraged by his humility.

Six for you and the retelling of the story of Feng Shan-Ho! We need to remember now too as our history lessons these days fail to teach us these things. My grandchildren learn because they're homeschooled and private schooled. Not every child or youth has what my children have had or grandparents that tell them about it. Oral history is so important. We must learn from these things so history doesn't repeat itself. Unfortunately, it is repeating itself since October 7, 2023, as Palestinians/Hamas aggressively moves to annihilate Israel and take their God-given land once again.
Sending you my best today as always and blessings in our Lord Jesus Christ, Sally xoxo

We tried to homeschool my daughter with a Christian curriculum. It was shocking to discover how much History is never told the our children today.
