A strong, very inspiring and well crafted celebration of independence here. I felt very patriotic with you...and I'm British! Small edit: (')twas time... Excellent! Good luck! Debbie

I am delighted my poem could make a British reader feel patriotic, Debbie. Thank you for your kind praise and for catching that error.

Hi

This looks like a good entry for the contest. Good luck with that!!

This is a great poem. It's nicely rhymed iambic pentameter and it has perfect meter

Yes, how glorious it would've been to be with the signers of our declaration of independence. It's just too bad that declaration did include women or slaves, even though it said all men are created equal.

Still, it would've been a fantastic time to be alive. To be at the signing, you would have to be a person of note. A gentleman who is well-known and influential to the signing

Our country is almost 250 years old

Long live USA

I enjoyed reading your poem

Good job. Thank you for sharing.

This is a poem about Independence Day July 4th 1776 that invites the reader to turn back a historical page and share that moment in time when 'the wonderful decree' was signed.

Virtual six, my friend. I would've loved to have been there too. I appreciate it our wonderful Constitution, cherished freedoms and history. Unfortunately, I feel our current leaders haven't a clue and letting our freedoms slip away. This saddens me as an American citizen. I'm praying for a turn around.
Sending you my very best today as always, and my good wishes in the contest too.
Sally Law :))

An excellent entry for the Happy Independence Day writing prompt. This poem gave a statement of pride about our country and its founding. The flow and the rhyme were as good as they get. Have a wonderful 4th. thank you for sharing.

Yes, I do feel much pride in what was done then by men who risked everything when they signed that declaration. Who knows what might have happened to them if England had won. Many thanks, Marilyn, for your praise.

I've been to Philosophical near to the Fourth of July as one can get, in the state house of Pennsylvania, now Independence Hall, close by was the liberty bell, we saw it outside, the crowd was too numerous, beautifully written, it's the fourth there, it's the fifth here, well done, good luck, blessings blessings Roy
