I read chapters six and seven at a strtch .I have not been keeping well and so i am behind in my reviews.
I keep hoping that something will happen to cheer the boys...The father could slip and fall and break his neck!!!

I'm guessing that if we all had to admit it there has been a time when we were so filled with anger we've wanted to hurt someone. But luckily, for most of us, the feelings pass and we move on without doing something we'd probably regret. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ric. Everyone has a dark side, some just learn to manage it better than others. Thanks, again. Gretchen

Hello Gretchen,
Wow, now we're getting down to the meat of the issue. A person can only take so much before they explode. I knew a fellow down in Hoonah who was just mean spirited continually. I couldn't stand the bastard. I didn't know how he'd meet his end, but I assumed he would live a long and happy life, regardless of his actions. Then one day, he was dead. I can't recall what the cause was, I think it was an illness or something unexpected, but it reminded me that God ultimately has the final say in our lives and how long we live on this earth. As tempting as it is to take matters in our own hands, sometimes we have to wait. In the case of the Apostle Paul, he met Jesus on the road to Damascus and it changed the world. Who knows how things might turn out. Great chapter gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

I have met people like that as well. Fortunately, I could walk away from them. Thank you so much for this stellar review. Gretchen

It is natural to wish someone dead who continually hurts you, but putting thoughts like this into practice is a very different matter. This distress suffered between these brothers is very sad, another fine chapter Gretchen, love Dolly x

Poor Dewey and Huck are victims of their father. He is a monster and although I know is wrong, I wish he was dead.

Another awesome chapter.

Well done

Thank you so much. It's hard to imagine people are actually like this. Gretchen

This was a wonderful, honest chapter, Gretchen. You could really feel how much Huck was torn between his feelings toward his father and Dewey's suggestion about killing him and the moral teachings he lives by which say it is wrong.

He also recognizes the difference between thinking or fantasizing about a thing and actually doing it. Actions always speak louder than words--something politicians and voters need to be cognizant of.

Very well written.

Well written.
It's gonna happen, we just don't know which boy will do the old man in, or how he'll do it.
You wrote Huck to be a real good character.

The trouble with resentment or revenge it cries out for fulfilment, it will never really be calmed, it can spread to other others of infection, the root of bitterness can develop into much worse, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Oyyyyy. My heart is in my throat. The only thing worse than that father is what he brings out in these two sweet, decent boys. You are doing the BEST job here, Gretchen. Slow, deliberate, one foundational brick at a time. Great suspense and anticipation. xoxo

Yes, and it is clear how he worked up his big appetite. What a bully. I hope he didn't hurt or kill Miss Lynn and her children. The tension is building for the boys and it seems to be inevitable that one or the other will end up killing their father and have to take the dire consequences. I can't see a happy ending coming this time.
