This is funny! Oh my, how my wallet followed the same path as yours!
Sometimes I feel like a pelican ....no matter which way I turn, I have an enormous bill in front of me! Good one, Bill.

This work has reached the exceptional level

This is the sad reality of today for too many Americans and Europeans.

Life has become an ongoing struggle to stay afloat.

The war in Ukraine and in Gaza have crippled the economy.

After the pandemic I thought nation would unite to get the global economy back on its feet but instead we went to war.

The west is crumbling while Russia 's economy is booming.

Brics is surpassing the US dollar.

Already 10 strong members have joined Brics . There is a huge meeting in October of Brics members to promote trade.

I read also that Putin wants to form a Brics NATO version.

Even Turkey now wants to join Brics :

Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Your wee poem says it all and in rhyme fat/ flat .

This would have been a great entry for the Antanaclasis contest.

big bills : large sum of money/ skyrocketing bills to pay.

I love this clever play on words. I wish my husband's wallet was this thick then he would not lose it. We have replaced 3 this year and survived two machine washings.
Best wishes
Mary

Perhaps a swimmer's wallet would survive the wash.

Oh, this 5-7-5 poem made me smile. I really liked your play on words and meaning. Yes, good fortune often turns in to quite the opposite. A great little poem, Bill with a message within. Ulla:)))

-Good artwork and presentation, Bill.
-The syllable count is good, along with the topic.
-Good description of the wallet and it was
once fat and now it's flat.
-Good play on words with double meaning of "big bills."
-Well done!

Hahaha -- funny, not funny -- the cost of living is ridiculous these days! But your play on words is excellent. Thank you for sharing this one. Now how about sharing what's in that wallet, hm?

I know, I know. It's terrible. You think you have enough saved up, but medical expenses can really eat into it. I've discovered it's cheaper for me to stay in my home and pay for extra help than it would be for me to move to a retirement center. I like your use of fat and flat in this. That's all you need to show what's happening. Thank goodness for Medicare and insurance. They help, but you often end up having to pay quite a bit out of pocket. Even prescriptions can be pricey, and insurance doesn't cover it all. Best of luck! judi

I absolutely loved the play on "big bills." This 5-7-5 was very funny, and you got the syllable count right. The picture you supplied helped, as well. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

A very witty statement, but too true. When Biden said it costs about $20 more a month for groceries, I wanted to scream! Everything is smaller and costs a lot more and I don't know why they call it inflation because my wallet is undergoing deflation.

My brother-in-law had a grocery order on his phone from last year. He had never sent it, so he ordered it last week. The prices had doubled.

My niece became my P.O.A. since I almost died. She sends me money from my account, generally in $50 or $100 bills. These used to be very hard to cash, but now everything costs so much, I can bring a $50 bill and not feel guilty.
