What a great 5-7-5 poem for Independence Day. I do like the poetry of Francis Scott Key but honestly, as a kid, I wondered what he was trying to say! He got a strong sense of that hope of freedom!

Most of Britain's other colonial possessions have achieved independence now, I think the ones I'm familiar have their celebratory Independence Day, ours was won peacefully, beautifully written, blessings Roy

I am positive our founding fathers are not at all happy at what has become of the great nation they fought so hard for. Thank you for sharing this reminder with us. We all need to pray for our country.

I thought you did a great job of showing hope as independence draws near. The imagery of the rocket's red glare (while familiar to every American) manages to add a sense of excitement to the scene because it wasn't well known at that time. Well done!

This was a wonderful poem. It was patriotic, and I loved that you tried to imagine what it must have been like for Francis Scott Key Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

What an inspired idea! The picture is very poignant and especially meaningful because of the current state of our country. If those men would stand before me now, I would be embarrassed. The dream that they fought for is in danger. Thank you for reminding us that we are supposed to be one nation. Well done!
