I am guessing this rhyming contest entry is about the devastation in war torn countries. Nothing ever good comes from war. I wish our governments would figure that out. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

    Barbara,
Thanks for your kind review. Yes, it is sad that governments do not do more for refugees. They all seem to buy more weapons. The amount spent on weapons could feed all the people in the world five times over.
Take care and have a wonderful day.

Hi Barry,
This is a heart rending poem from the refugee' point of view. It is so distressing that people just ignore them. I have to do more to help them if I can. I wonder if you know a way to send food to refugee camps. Or donate so some can find a better life.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a great rest of the day and upcoming week.

    Joan,
Thanks so much for the six stars. Very much appreciated. I am not sure where you direct your donation to in your state. I know that many communities set up a refugee relief center. Nationally there may also be a relief telephone number that will accept donations over the phone. I am in Australia and have a slightly different set up.
Yes, I will stay healthy and keep writing. You take care.

An excellent question is where do they go if they can't stay here? There is no easy answer. Yet you are right the many refugees that cross the border are growing exponentially. The way you describe this from the perspective of a child is chilling in its reality. I shiver when I think of what would happen to me when I was a child if I had no place to go and no place to call my home.
Thanks for telling it like it is. We must help them otherwise who will?

    Wow,
Thanks for the six-star review. A sad topic but one that is not going to go away, especially while wars seem to be breaking out everywhere. Take care and have a wonderful day.

    You're welcome, Barry.
I agree it is sad but it is not going anywhere but we can do something about it if we care.
Wars, famine, and the pandemic are all things we cannot control.
Yet we can help each other.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

The short lines and quick rhymes make this feel like an insistent rhythm pattern, which is perfect in tandem with the pleading, stinging, haunted words that are being conveyed here. You've done a very fine job here getting us to look inside ourselves and ask why this is being allowed to happen. xo

    Rachelle,
Thanks for your great review. A sad topic with no solution in sight. Take care and have a great day. I recall the John Lennon song 'IMAGINE" when thinking about all of this.

That was because I erroneously hit "send" when I meant to hit the up arrow. Sorry about that. Pretend you didn't see that faux pas, Barry...

We are so blind to refugees, as if they are here by choice. We seldom consider the circumstances that led to them being without home or country. Your poem is a cry to all of us, we must heed their cries.

Thanks for your review. Yes, it is a tragedy getting worse each day. Perhaps there is a miracle out there somewhere. Take care.

Being a war refugee sucks. You did a good job of capturing that here.

The meter is a bit fragmented, so in its current form, it reads to me as "spoken word" -- which is how I would suggest delivering it. Thanks for sharing.

Compelling and bleak you've painted an effective picture of life as a refugee.
You poem is filled with sadness as I think of those in the middle east
Good use of rhyming for the contest
Take care

How very sad! I can not understand why people believe they must destroy others in order to make their own life better. Why can't we live and let live the way it was meant to be? Your words are ver poignant and I pray for all those who live this way.

This is a very good entry for the Rhyming Poetry competition. Your poem shines a light on a growing problem in the world today, so many people displaced by conflict or natural disaster that have lost everything, forced to live in unhealthy, undersupplied refugee camps, shunned by many countries not wanting to take on their care or offer sanctuary. Your words are so descriptive--Nicely done!

Thanks so much for your review. As you can tell this is heartfelt. I was somewhat heartened when I saw the Refugee contingent at the Olympic Games today. However, it will not solve their tragic dilemma.
    Take care.

You put us right there with this refugee and show us the misery beneath the wars , the people that suffer the most. There seems to be more wars, more humger for power than ever before. Indeed, what to do. A very poignant rhyming poem for the contest Barry. Well done.

Thanks for your review Valda. It is indeed a problem that appears to have no resolution. Except to stop all wars. Oh, if only that would happen. Take care and have a good day.
