This poem is inventive, unusual and it touched my heart. You captured nostalgia so cleverly in your poem about fond memories that are gone forever, a magical post, well written, a talented write from a skilful pen, love Dolly x x x

Thanks again for the six star review. Denise Levertov was one the big influences on my poetry, and I think this style owes much to her work. estory

Loved your thought-provoking reflection on what is truly of worth. I agree that what once seems like "gold" to some at one age may become just "The Woolworth's of tomorrow." But the tangible things to me should have more worth than cryptocurrency! I was appalled that Trump told his Bitcoin audience that he wanted to make the US top in crypto dealings. It's only digital and ephemeral worth - depending on the capricious nature of human value systems.
Congratulations on your 300th post!

Thanks for the excellent review and for promoting this again for me. I am glad you found it so thought provoking; I like to get people thinking. I really wanted to get across this sense of how flighty our sensibility can be; one year it's roller skates, the next year its hoola hoops, then its frisbees and then nonfungible tokens. We like to move in a herd, even when that herd seems to heading for a cliff. I don't invest in bitcoin myself. It's the medium of criminals, drug traffickers and terrorists. I stick with the old tried and true gold itself. estory

I completely agree! Perhaps that's why Trump likes to promote the cryptocurrency world - or it could be his VP choice.

estory, this is an artistic and heady reflection and introspection of what's
gone before and hints at what lies ahead...And no matter how good, bad and/or indifferent, I can't really see this (so-called progress/process)
changing...I am sorry if I have miss-understood and misstated your salient
point(s)...Thanks for sharing and the additions to my lexicon.

first of all, congratulations on your 300th post milestone! quite an accomplishment. This is such a great commentary on the way things change from generation to generation. It actually gets more difficult to go into thrift stores for just this reason. It is like seeing some of you most precious memories lying on a trash heap. Great job. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the excellent review and your wonderful comments supporting the poem. It's hard to hang on to the things we love. The world around us keeps moving on and leaving those things behind. Remember walkmans? rotary phones? pencils and notebooks at school? estory

ESTORY, your poem portrays (so well) the generation gap. Humans just cannot settle down, "can't seem to stay in one place." But while I ponder on the "happenings of the past (no longer available), I do value the new memories for the next generation. Well written.

Thanks for the wonderful compliments and I am glad so many people seem to have enjoyed this poem. It's always nice to take a trip down memory lane, but it is also unsettling how the world keeps changing around us, faster and faster. And we don't know where it is taking us. And we can't get back to where we came from. estory

I feel like every generation longs for their own distinct identity. They add their stamp to music, clothing, that one or two must have item. Then that fades out and the next generation takes charge. Sometimes they just reinvent the wheel but make no mistake, it's their take on it. Very astute poem. Gretchen

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the piece. Yes, we rebelled against jazz and crew cuts and suits with ties, and now our kids are going off beyond us to another place where we feel we don't quite belong. It is what it is. estory

Author,
I grew up in the 60's and I, too have seek fashions and fads come and go.
Something that's really disturbing, too, is that we as a society have lost the appreciation for priceless art. In Europe and the U.S. people deface beautiful masterpieces.
This is one fad I hope soon disappears.
Excellent nostalgic poem and author's notes.
Congratulations on your milestone poem.
Cindy

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the piece. One thing that seems to be gone for sure is respect and manners. And that really is a shame. Another thing is the speed of the change. And we don't know where we are really going. estory

Congratulations on Milestone post 300!

I am of the age where your words weigh heavily on my spirit.

I'd take a Frisbee over an NFT any day... and I am saddened that my grandchildren will never understand how precious the seemingly small things from our past are!

Thanks for the excellent review and your words of support for my sad little theme here. Yeah, the kids these days just sit in their rooms, make videos, watch videos, and play video games. You don't see them riding around on bikes the way we used to do, or hear them playing in yards. And you know what else is sad and scary? They don't read books anymore either. estory

I just recently heard books being referred to as a dying medium...

It seems if many kids (and adults) today see more than 280 characters they panic.

What a sorry state that is!

Oh, how poignant, especially for those of us old enough to understand that some things are irreplaceable. I wish I still had a six available for this most worthy free verse.

Thanks for the excellent review and your wonderful complimentary words. I am glad so many people seem to have read and enjoyed this walk down memory lane. The sad thing is we can't really go back there anymore. And we don't know where we are going. estory
