Pretty, this was very timely for two reasons: I love Oriental sci-fi and just watched a current Chinese sci-fi movie about a giant snake battling a giant lizard. Also, I am posting a tale tomorrow that has a bit to do with Adam and the Grden. And I loved your tale, too!

I have never been chased by a snake. Instead, we both look at each other and scream, them run or slither away. Sometimes the snake runs and sometimes it's me. Loved your lively and entertaining rant. Gretchen

Thank you. I don't know if it's just me or what, but those darn blue racers love to chase me. Of course, I oblige them by running. Lol. A blue racer will often go away, but if you antagonize them, they are quick to retaliate.

This was such a fun read, I laughed out loud couple of times. Fantastic contest entry, I think we have a winner right here.
It made me think about one of the quotes from one of the greatest shows ever - The Sopranos:
'Amazing thing about snakes is that they reproduce spontaneously.'
'What do you mean?'
'They have both male and female sex organs. That's why somebody you don't trust you call a snake. How can you trust a guy who can literally go f*ck themselves?'

Thanks for reading and the six stars. Also, thanks for sharing that interesting fact about snakes. Your remark gave me a chuckle.

You had us squirming in this tale about snakes chasing you around the yard, holding ranch hands at bay. The details in your writing make the story come alive, and the colorful language gives it personality. The story of it kept coming after you made it seem like some kind of possessed being. But snakes do have their place in the world. They go after voles, mice, rabbits and other pests. I have a big problem here with voles, and would do anything to have my old friend the black snake around to keep them honest. It's the venomous ones that I really fear. The copperheads hiding the leaves. Those are the ones to watch out for. One bite requires an antivenom that cost well over $100,000. estory

Thank you. Blue racers often leave someone alone unless they are antagonized or threatened. They probably chased me because I obliged them by running. Lol. If Mike had chased the snake away instead of shooting at it and missing, it might not have gone after him. What made it so funny was the fact that Mike had just taunted George and I for being afraid of a snake.

Hi, PBB, I so enjoyed your hilarious post. It was well written and engaging. I laughed to whole way through. I'm sure everyone has a snake story to tell, some supportive, some, like you, that are done with them!
Love the Adam and Eve connection!!
Best of luck in the contest,
Rhonda

Thank you. We have a lot of snakes around here, but thank God there are few poisonous ones.

I Guess we have to believe that God is a little bit smarter than us, if one takes out one creature is removed for a specific eco system, it loses balance heh heh, especially spiders, heh heh, but the serpent in the garden was the same as the dragon in the book of revelation. I tend to agree with you, well done, blessings Roy

I love the irreverence of this, basically because I too fear the rotten things. In Australia we have around a dozen who can actually inflict a fatal bite. This is so well written.

Thank you for reading and commenting. At least most snakes in Michigan are not poisonous.

Hysterical. I absolutely positively loved it. I am not afraid of them exactly, but I try to keep out of their way. I am still not through moving.I will be looking in from time to time until I am settled. I miss being here and your friendship. Good work here. Karen

Great rant. And very well supported. nicely written, too.
I've had several run-ins with bad snakes: cottonmouth, water moccasin, timber rattler, diamondback rattler, and many, many copperheads. I don't like 'em. Blue racers, though, always raced away from us, never toward.

Thank you. The blue racers you met must have been nicer than ours Lol. At least here in MIchigan we don't have too many poisonous snakes.

The first blue racer I saw was when I lived in Michigan. '51-'64

I couldn't agree more. The most difficult part about reading your story was getting past the photo of the snake. I hate those things with a purple passion. Dead or alive, they are all horrible things and you're so right, they shouldn't have been allowed on the ARK. I just said that to my grands a few weeks ago.
In one paragraph you spelled snake "shake."
Reread your story for errors, because although not many, there are a few.
