Hi Jessica,
This is a good ode to first responders and your dad. It is true that all first responders in any situation are heroes. It must have been really hard to be part of 9/11 like that. He deserves all our thanks. As does anyone who keeps us safe.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great day and rest of the week.

"a simple man
who's everything
to me
but ordinary."
Jessica, sometimes, we don't see beyond our noses and take it for granted. Better yet, create your own definition of "ordinary" as you have done. Well written.

This is a beautiful poem for your dad. It takes a special man to put his life in danger to save others. Facing the fires, dragging people out and all the other blessings he gives to you. K xx

Nice inspirational choice.
This was a bit unique. I like this stanza:
Those bedtime story
heroes,
adorned with magic capes,
are simply ordinary
next to stars
who tell their tales.
Great read!

Always a pleasure to read your fine work. What a picture to have with your father in the midst. a nice poetic story that offers the humble courage of the first responder

-Thanks for sharing the picture, notes, and poem, Jess.
-Please tell your dad he has our thanks for what
he has done for others in a very difficult situation.
-You wrote a very good poem for him.
-Your opening verses are filled with light as
"He rises with the dawn," and
"gives all he has to give,
and asks for nothing
in return."
-I also like how "lends the moon his light."
-A beautiful concluding verse.
-Thanks for sharing it and the
love and pride you have in your father.

I really loved this beautiful free-verse poem that doesn't rhyme but sounds very rhythmical with wonderful meter to it. Very artfully written, using the metaphor of the sun to describe your dad.
He sounds like someone whom people could trust as he quietly did his job and served his community well. It's soft-spoken, conscientious people like him who may seem ordinary, but who make the world work.

What a wonderful tribute this beautiful poem is to your dad--a true hero. Where would we be without these brave first responders who put their lives on the line daily in service to others? I thank him for his service and dedication. Your words are beautifully eloquent. Excellent!

This is so beautiful. Fictional heroes don't hold a candle to real ones. It's really great you got to look up to a real hero and that it's someone who loves you. Thank you for sharing
