I grew up in the city but I got to visit the country a fair amount. I used to wish that I could live in the country. Maybe not so far out that I was hundreds of miles away from the closest city but far enough for the peacefulness that it brings.

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing my poem. They initially disqualified me because they said it was a free verse poem. Then they said it had no rhyming pattern. Long story short, they re-entered it after the voting was over. But that's ok. (I really don't have a choice...lol)
And yes I lived about 70 miles from the nearest town, at the end if a 17 mile dirt road. It was definitely Gods country but it was beautiful, and I wouldn't trade it for anything
I hope you have a blessed day

This must have been a unique childhood growing up on a ranch and riding horses every day. You mentioned having to do hard work, but what did you do? I like the pride that comes through in this poem.

As for the hard work I did, I worked cows, and I'm talking riding horses to gather the herd and we had cow dogs, and we usually would have about 340 cows and 300+ calves to work. Long, hot, miserable day. And I built fence, mowed pastures, ran equipment, we grew 2000 acres of field corn every year and harvested it every summer. I raised deer and fox. And we built rhe best forts, and tree houses ever
It really was a magical place. Thank you so muchbfor asking.
I hope you have a blessed day
