I love heddy, I truly do. And, her gramma. Lester's aunt however, I can do entirely without. You write so well. I will read the rest. Looking forward to more. Have a good week. Karen

This is a really good chapter as well. Mrs. Collette is such a beast! Delivering mail to people that she is holding back certainly isn't stealing. She is proving herself to be just plain evil.

Thank you so much. Mrs. Collette makes it easy to hate her. Gretchen

Yes, as long as we keep our thoughts and words inside they don't seem to cause too much trouble. But once we've opened our mouths and spoken the words, we can never take them back. Thanks for sharing.

Very true. Better to pause and think than open your mouth and sink. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Poor Lester. His aunt is an awful person. I guess willis is not going to be happy about Artie. I hope that works out. I'm glad Lester was not send away for Heddy's sake but staying with his aunt is not good either.
Wonderful chapter. I like how the story is unfolding. I like how the neighbors help each other with helpful bartering.

When I first moved to the Outer Banks in the early nineties, everyone battered. People would do manual labor for clothing at surf shops, or meals at restaurants. Not so much anymore. Being from the city, this was new to me. Lol. But everybody got what they needed out of it. Thank you so much for this awesome review. Gretchen

Hello Gretchen,
holy cats, I don't know who's going to be in more trouble, Artie, Lester or the old bag who's been withholding the US mail. Mrs. C is a world class bitch isn't she? I love the way you give each character their own personality and the way they all interact gal. Well done!
Have a blessed day.

This isn't at all good. I surely hope Willis will settle down and allow for an explanation. I can't wait to see what happens next. You're doing a great job writing this.

I don't think Willis will react, but I'm not so sure about Mrs. Collette. This could mean trouble for all of them. Thank you so much for this fine review. Gretchen

Oops! Oh dear what now? Your chapter vividly recounts a scene after the storm and Heddy's sensitivity to the demise of the old oak tree. Then the violence unleashed by the cruel Mrs Collette on poor Lester who, in his defence to her allegations, divulges the presence of Artie on the island. What a cliff hanger now but well developed in excellent dialogue and plot. Thanks for sharing, Gretchen. Debbie

This lady deserves to lose her job as post mistress. I would think what is does is a Federal crime. I hope there is better answer for Lester somewhere in the future. Now I"m worried about Artie. Sometimes I forget this is fiction. You make these characters seem so real.

Lol. I forget they are characters too. I think Mrs. Collette is smart enough to hide what she's doing, for a while. Hopefully, Lester will be returned to his mother at summer's end. I appreciate this awesome review. Gretchen

How ugly in so many way is Mrs Collette, but Lester has blurted out the German boy's name, and more or less his whereabouts, how will this affect Willis, but worst of all the innocent German boy, what a horrid mother, Mrs. Collette has surely committed a crime by illegally withholding mail, well done Gretchen, blessings Roy, ,

I think Willis will be smart enough to hold his reaction, but Mrs. Collette is a different story. Thank you for this excellent review and the nice rating. Gretchen

That?s true

There is an appealing honesty and authenticity about all these relationships and experiences. It's as though I am watching a movie. Mrs Collette is mean and horrid - yet she's very real. This is a very dramatic and worrying ending. Please hurry and post the next part!

Hoping to post the next chapter tomorrow. Thank you so much for the incredible review and the awesome rating. Much appreciated. Also, congratulations on the Seal of Approval. Just curious, from the time you submit it, how long does it take them? Thank you again. Gretchen

I can?t remember exactly when I submitted it but I would estimate only about a month ago. The hinted it could take quite a while, up to several months, so I was quite surprised to get the results on Sunday. Thank you again for your congratulations.
