I know where this will lead... to a big deserving exceptional six rating for such an inspirational and well written non-fictional essay. Bravo my Brother, what a story, what a man, what an amazing humanitarian, what an athlete!
When I read stories such as these, it can only lead to me trying harder to be a better man each and every day through the lead of beautiful humans such as Gino.

Wow! A six so late in the week (wait it?s already Sunday there, down under correct)? Regardless anytime I get a six I am thoroughly honored. So thank you my brother for all that gold.
I don?t believe there was a movie but it would make a good one for sure. I am going to order a book that I?ve seen on Amazon.
I agree, what he did during WW2 was incredible. I stumbled on him while googling Italian born atheletes. Otherwise, honestly I never heard of him before.
Oh well, I?m carrying on my friend! Thank you so much for reading, sharing, being you and the glitter.

Sorry for the late response. Honestly my thought was to focus on Italian athletes born in Italy: ie- Alberto Tomba, Bruno Sammartino to name a couple?

I have never heard any of Gino's story, but he was truly a hero, not just for his skills on a bike. This is well written, perfectly organized, and ultimately a tearjerker as the reader discovers how long Gino kept his story secret. Very well done.

I'm in awe of Gino. I don't know if I would have the courage to do what he did. I'm not afraid of dying, but I am afraid of torture and being captured alive would probably mean torture. I would want a capsule of cyanide or something that I could use if I were to be tortured.
He really is a hero. I would have no room to hide anybody in my apartment. It's an assisted-living apartment and it has one bedroom and one tiny living room.

I truly wonder if folks learned from history because here we are again to stand up, and many are not! I will always stand up! My family and I talk and pray about this daily.
