A nice poem! Simple and short, but telling a story very clearly. Should there be a period after the first line? And perhaps a comma after the third line? Overall, very well done. Good job and keep it up!

Your poem describes a cop working on a task force who's burned out from the job which has few rewards and little thanks. You evoke sympathy for this cop by describing realistically what he/she has to deal with on a daily basis. This theme appears quite often on TV cop shows these days.

Just her job, she did not expect thanks.
So often the family she consoled
While the trail of the killer went cold.
To the profiler she opened her heart.
"This case has torn me apart."
