Only when we retire do we get a rest from constant work. The day I retired was the day I lived my life the way I always wanted to. Work was a means to an end and I worked in some awful jobs in order to pay the bills. Now I can sit on my porch and laugh at the world outside. I enjoyed your post, love Dolly x

I am assuming that by mode you mean in working mode
I know how the person in your poem feels. This seems to be true of mostly white collar jobs
With my job, there was a lot of complex thinking going on. Also I was on call 24 by 7. That did not help matters any
But, many weekend, vacation, evening and night away from work. I just couldn't enjoy what we were all doing because I was thinking about work.
I understand completely completely and I think you did a good job with it. Your last line is the key linchpin. To everything. I enjoyed reading your poem

I can remember someone saying to me when it was Friday and the weekend looked large, I said I only enjoy the weekend, they said if we lived to seventy, we would only enjoy 20 years out of the seventy, my attitude banged. Beautifully written Naani, good luck, blessings Roy
