I really really hope this is fictitious because it broke my heart to read. I thought I was the only mother over here complaining about my kids, but damn. You topped me for sure.

First of all, yes, the main character here is way too nice. We don't owe our grown ass kids ANYTHING. I learned the hard way when once I was short on cash (my fault) and needed to borrow $5 from each of my three daughters to get gas. My gas tank was on E, my cell phone bill was due, and something else was outstanding. I was so disappointed when after I had loaned each of them countless amounts of money that they would say to me, "I don't have it," as if it were lyrics to a song. they all said the exact same thing. One daughter called saying, "why don't you have money? What do you need it for? It's unacceptable that you don't have money."

Well I can assure you that I now mimic them. When they ask, I say "I don't have it." I've learned that if I can't get a mother's day card, they won't either. Or a birthday card, or a Christmas gift, they won't either.

I was so sorry to hear that one child stated that he/she won't show up until the funeral in your rant. That part really broke my heart.

Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the beautiful rating, and sadly yes, this is a completely true story. I have the same issue when asking for money from my children.

I was considering entering this competition, but would find myself voting for this story instead of my own. You have a real set of winners there and I hope you win the lottery.

Thank you. Your comment gave me a laugh, a sad one, but a laugh nevertheless. If I do ever get another windfall, they are getting NONE.

This is dreadful. Your children are so ungrateful. It is painful when one's good nature is taken advantage of in this way. But you know you are the better person.

Thank you. Yes, I have come to realize that they are very ungrateful. I guess it doesn't matter how you raise them, they will turn out the way they turn out. One of them doesn't talk to me anymore and won't let me see my little granddaughter because she got mad about something that happened that wasn't even my fault. Oh well, it is what it is. My oldest moved back in after his dad passed in order to help me because I am disabled. He refused any money from the insurance, even when I offered him some. I guess one out of four is still a win.

You're welcome. I never had any children, but I know what is like to be taken advantage of.

I'm so sorry that you have had this horrible life experience! Ungrateful brats!

I'll have to teach you to write in short paragraphs. You have only one long, long paragraph here.

Check out my stories here. I'm going to make you my buddy. Love, Knowledge

Thank you! Yes, sadly, they are ungrateful brats. I actually usually do write in paragraphs, but I had a ton of stuff going on at my house.
My 90 year old mother just got out of the hospital and has beginning onsets of dementia, I fell on June 1st and my doctor thinks I may have fractured my knee, we had to empty a storage unit in three days, and we are having to rearrange our entire apartment to accommodate the items from there.
My roommate was actually drilling and dragging furniture around the entire time I was writing, so I was trying to hurry. He needed to disconnect my computer and move my desk - lol.
Thanks for making me your buddy.

I was really hoping this was fictional. I was sorry to see that this was true. Your story was tragic, but it was compelling and you told it well. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you. Yes, it is true and I was taken advantage of, but in the end I was a kind person and I guess that is what counts.
