It is good Artie only had a little damage and is alright. Heddy is a good kid and she admits she can't bring herself to pray for Mrs Collette. Still she feels guilty for wishing she was dead. No one scolds her for saying that.

Hello Gretchen,
I like all the extra facts that you put in each chapter, like the fact that her dad stepped on glass and had to have stitches. It's interesting that Artie would know about the postmaster and her mean ways. She must have been really hurt in the past. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Artie had lived elsewhere on the island but got threatened so he "left" but actually hid in Dr. Monroe's abandoned house. Thank you for this. Gretchen

It sounds like Colette has a reputation that has spread and most people know of her mean character, even Artie who is somewhat isolated. I enjoyed the friendship he and Heddy have together as they both see the good in each other. Another fine chapter Gretchen, much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x

Again, you have a wonderful chapter as life moves on for Heddy. Her family survived the hurricane, Lester is broken-hearted over his father's death, Artie survived the hurricane with only one broken window, and Heddy is wondering if Nonni has a point about praying for bad people also.

Your description of the relationship between characters through the dialogue is skilful and believable. There are some lovely passages of writing, too.
I particularly liked this paragraph: I see thin strands of silver that seem to play peek-a-boo with the sunlight that streams through the kitchen window. She looks like a princess. "Daddy's gonna like you even more with your hair down like that."
I think 'under tow' is one word. It is on this side of the Pacific anyway!
An enjoyable read and well worth the sixth star.

No, you can't fault anyone for telling the truth, but that doesn't mean that anyone truly wants to hear it, truth or not. Most times, people just want to hear the praises, deserved or not. Thanks for sharing.

I would rather hear the truth because I don't have time to waste on lies. Lol. Thank you for this. Gretchen

I love that everyone made it through the storm. Heddy does not want to pray for Mrs. Colette, and the fact that she feels a pang of guilt, for me, deepens her character. It's fun to watch her grow and change as the story progresses.

Best, JohnC

Thank you, John. She is changing despite her best effort to dig her heels in the sand and resist. Lol. I really appreciate your continued supportive reviews. Gretchen

I am glad they are all safe after the storm, but still feeling for Lester; his aunt is very mean-spirited. I like Heddy's honesty, and also how she struggles with ethical, moral and spiritual questions, but does not shape herself to suit the expectations of others. Well written and enjoyable chapter.

Thank you. Heddy knows what is expected of her but she's a tad stubborn and still sees the world as black and white. Those lines are blurring though. Thank you for this wonderful review. Gretchen

"I see thin strands of silver that seem to play peek-a-boo with the sunlight that streams through the kitchen window" ..... beautiful imagery.

I love your Saltwater Ghosts book. The characters are endearing, except Lester's aunt, she is an awful person.

I love to search for beach treasures. I used to do it all the time, before I gave my car to my son. But after a big storm I would be afraid of what I may find.

Well done, Gretchen, you are my favorite author in fanstory... a great story teller.

Dang, Gypsy, you got me choked up here. I really appreciate your comment, especially calling me a storyteller. I'm really enjoying Heddy's story. I'm pulling little bits of my own childhood in and dealing with things that have been burs under my own saddle. Writing is great therapy for that, isn't it. Thank you for this touching review and the kind words. Plus the stars. Gretchen

Another fine chapter carried by its excellent dialogue! I always love Heddy's honesty, whether it be about Lester or Mrs Collette in this case, it's always a welcome read. Just some little suggestions:
Come (on). Lunch is ready.
I also wondered about contractions in some of the dialogue:
Oh (I'm) sorry to hear this; (I'll) pray for Lester..
Thanks for sharing this enjoyable read, Gretchen. Take care Debbie

Since Artie uses English as his second language, he may not use contractions like us. I really didn't want him to sound too American. Thank you so much for this awesome review. Gretchen
