The beauty of God is manifest in a child, I have been privileged to witness that beauty in my children and my grandchildren but that rare blue rose is a special colour indeed, and I'm not sure I've ever seen a blue rove, well done Jamison, blessings Roy

I learned a lot about roses from this story. A blue rose can't be found in nature; roses don't have the gene to produce that color. However, you can dye a white rose blue, sort of. The eye condition is real but rare. Thanks, Roy. Take care! - Jamison

Hi there,
I liked this little piece a lot.
A lot of what we experience and feel comes down to perspective and Maddy here demonstrates this in such a lovely, kind way.
Well written piece with good pacing.
All the best

I missed this! Aw, congratulations on another fine flash fiction. This was really sweet and something I have in the last stages of my retinitis pigmentosa. Blue and purple look the same sometimes.
Again, congrats on your win! Awesome!

I can understand why this story won the contest. It is lovely and heart-touching. I love the picture of the two little girls; it reminds me of the girl who was my best friend in childhood. Superb writing.

What a heartwarming story this is! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and appreciated the kernel of information in the Author's Notes about the condition Protanopia.
This was a beautiful story of friendship of the best kind, indeed: true blue. So glad it won first place for you.

This is a very nice story which I see is a winner. It is good when one can take a handicap and see it in the light that makes it beautiful. This condition would be really inconvenient in many ways but being explained in this way make it a rare gift.

You definitely met the brief on this one - and taught us something at the same time. I've always wondered how people who see colors differently know that their perception is different. Well done!
