Perhaps expand on 'After dialing.' Who or where did he dial?
Maybe more body language from Jesse while he's on the phone?
This chapter is full of intensity. You can feel the wife's anxiety of not knowing where he has gotten to. Nice touch of her wanting his jacket for the comfort it provides her.

Your plot is ever changing which keeps the reader very involved: "I'm scared. Greg left sometime in the night and never came home."
"I know. I got your message and came as quickly as I could." Jesse ran his hands through his thick black hair. "Central Dispatch said he took a call after midnight. Seems Officer Katie's boyfriend disappeared and she went on a bender at the Stonefish Bar. Greg advised that he would handle it and now both of them are missing." I have a feeling we will see more about the dagger maybe in the next chapter. Well developed.

The plot weaves around the bad guy (girl). Plus I spun the last book in the series bad guy into this book in an earlier chapter. We are nearing the climactic end. Hope not literally for Greg?.cause that would mean he dies. Ha!

I'll have to look earlier into this book I'm trying to think I'm reading something of yours right now but maybe this can be my next book.

The picture leads me to believe that the blade is used in rituals. With Lilith's history it would make sense, but??? why wasit where they found it if SHE has the two of them somewhere?, not that you would have drawn it f
