Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

Hi MariVal,
well... this is dark and rather heavy in emotion... but I read your notes and contest requirement and then all your words and emotion sit perfectly in the 'her dark room'... and you used variations of that phrase very well in refrain to solidify your intent.

I also read a more personal connection woven in.

All the very best wishes in this contest dear talented poet.

With our thoughts we create...
an expansion of possibility.

Warm regards,
James.

James! it's so good to hear from you. I am happy you like this one. You are right, it's dark and heavy. It reflects a time of my life but it's a general idea that maybe others can identify with. Especially the people who have depression. Thank God I'm not depressed now.

I was also thinking about Maya Angelou, not that my poem compares in any way to her poem but I feel like the bird sometimes.

Thank you for the exceptional six stars review and kind words.

I can feel the depression and the despair coming through on this post. The presentation in the graphic are nice along with it. Deep emotions. I have been there myself.

a great poem about a woman longing for a lost love and remembering the memories now buried...
sad, yet wonderful imagery
i like the repeated line of her dark room...

Maya Angelou was an exceptional poet and person. I'm inspired by her wisdom. Thank you for sharing this beautiful contest entry with us. The presentation was wonderful. I could feel emotion as I read. Good luck with the contest.

Very sad and moving. Depression is a dark place, and one can feel truly abandoned and imprisoned within its severe grip. It is a great tribute to this excellent poet. Best wishes for the contest.

This is so emotive! As a teenager I started reading 'I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings' but I couldn't finish it as it was so sad and horrific in parts. Years later I read it fully..Your poem is a beautifully written dedication to is an amazing wordsmith!
All the best.
Jill:)

That is very sad. The "dark room" feels like the depression this woman is in and she can't get out because of the heavy feeling of loss and abandonment. Best wishes in the contest!

yes, you got it, big sister, you always do
depression makes one feel gloomy, hopeless, and trapped. I was alone for ten years, after my divorce. During the worse times it was just me and God. He has always being there for me. It's a miracle that I am alive, maybe i was needed to care for atticus.

    think you, big sister,

    love,

I'm so glad He was there protecting you, MariVal! And now you can share about that time and encourage others who are trapped in that dark room.

An excellent entry for the Poem About a Woman contest. This was so beautifully sad. I felt myself being drawn into her emotions. Nicely presented as well. Good luck.

Unrequited love is still love. If asked have I ever been in love I just say "I am right now". She'll never love me back and I'll never stop loving her.

There are many women in this world today who could identify very much with this poem I enjoyed listening to it and it's pretty well presented. I wish you the very best with all your writing. Patricia .
