This is a powerful poem, so much said in so few words, " Maya Angelou" sounds like a very determined woman, with strong beliefs, very well written and presented****kahpot

Gypsy, This is a six star post in my eyes. If God be for us who can be against us. I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me. You used great words and the imagery goes well with your words. You had great notes also. Thank you so much for sharing. love and blessings, Teri

Very powerful words that are conveyed in such a small space. This format is so complimented by the fact of what or who the piem calls the mojotity.
Well done.

Maya Angelou held on to that power of God's words of love and affirmation and wrote words to empower others. With God on our side, we can stand against all hate groups!

I love maya angelou, she was my favorite poet... she's still is. I watched an interview she had with Oprah Winfrey, and she cried saying that, that she is a child of God and he love her. It makes me cry too.
Thank you very much, big sister.

Hi MariVal,
what a hard poem to review with blinkers on!
Everything within these three lines, your fourteen words, the twenty-five syllables slaps you in the face with such a stark reality of contrast.
I loved the way you tied your poem in with your notes and quote. I'm not going to get all political or comment on the content... it speaks volumes already... and it's turned up to the max.
So I'll just say... this is one powerful presentation MariVal... it has lasting echoes!
"I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it."-MA
"Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently."-MA
"I wish that we could look into each other's faces, in each other's eyes, and see our own selves. I hope that the children have not been so scarred by their upbringing that they only think fear when they see someone else who looks separate from them."-MA
And my favorite...
"You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise."---Maya Angelou.
With our thoughts we create...
the decency of respect for all life.
Warmest regards,
James.

Thank you very much, James (*÷*). I love maya, she is my favorite poet and activist. I met her in person in Stockton, California, where her mother lived. She was as lovely and graceful in person as she is on screen. Have you listened to her read her poem, A Phenomenal Woman?
Great quotes, thank you.
Wishing you all the best,
Con cariņo
MariVal
