Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

This is a touching, well-written, convicting story. I'm so glad it had a happy ending for Jerry.
It's a tough situation...my husband tried to reach out and help several homeless people in the past, and every time it came back to bite him. Through mental illness or at least unhealthy thinking patterns, they did not want to be helped and squandered all chances given to them. So he stopped. It's just not always easy to tell who really wants the help. We live in a small town now with a single homeless person. The town got together and financed a local motel room with shower and kitchen for her to live in. She declined, prefers sleeping in alleys. The police 'arrest' her when it's going below freezing so they can warm her up and feed her for at least the night.
Regardless, your story was very touching and well done.

Very true. And I never did find out what ultimately happened to Jerry. I mean I'm sure he's dead by now, or else he'd be near 100 years old. Who knows if the situation with that family worked out for him. The end of the story is never really the end of the story. I only know that I never saw him on the streets of my city again.

Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted

What a great story beautifully expressed! The length was perfect and I found myself immersed in the contents from beginning to end. What impressed me so much was the way you saw beyond the "happy ending" to the not so edifying realities of human nature. I must admit, I found the effigy more than a bit tacky and the fact that people seemed to be indulging so emotionally in his disappearance when they could have been more constructive and less patronising when he was still sitting there. Knowing someone had been the best Good Samaritan and taken him in simply reflected on their own inadequacies. Well done narrating this excellent story which has no noted errors. And good luck!
