What a delightful story which you expressed so well. It resonated with me because I always felt very comforted by my mother's ironing. Whether it was the warmth, the sound of those "iron puffs" or just the meditative activity of the iron going back and fore. You capture that sense of security and contentment in a well structured short story in which you record the detail lovingly and with skill. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Hi. This looks like a good entry for the contest. Good luck with that.!

I saw no errors

Oh what I would have given to have a mother who loved me. Or, even a father. I had both but neither loved me. One was never around and the other was severely abusive. As in the film Mommy Dearest. Only worse

I am not jealous. I am very happy for you. One thing I like to say is when a parent that's like your parent dies is that you're going to be more devastated by that death than I would by.the death of my own parents

On another note, why do elephants have so many wrinkles? The answer relates to this poem.

Because they are too big for an ironing board.

Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for taking the time to read my work and write to me! I am sorry for what sounds like a difficult childhood. Indeed, it was devastating to lose my mother. Thank you again!

All is well. I have so many snapshots of those years one could write a book. Nahhh, who does that? I remember helping my mom wash dishes and singing a song we learned from the Andy Griffith show. It's called The lonesome road. I sang it in church just this year. Thanks for helping remember. Great read. Good luck!
