Ah! the memories, my dad did the same, he could even/almost make stories with his hands, the images he made substituted for no TV. very well written and presented****kahpot

Mist evocative. I can just imagine the magic created between father and child with this age-old art. In this context, the idea of shadows is particularly poignant.

That's so sad. At least, the child remembers the little things he did to entertain her. The memory is more like a shadow instead of a real person now that he is gone.

I remember doing that when I was growing up. You used very good descriptive words and very lovely imagery from the artwork you chose. Thanks for sharing! love and blessings, Teri

This was a great senryu, as far as I can tell. (I'm not a poetry expert like you are.) My sister and I used to make up stories with shadow puppets. This poem had a hint of sadness, but it brought back great memories for me. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Yes Gypsy, the memories we hold for our Fathers are for always.
Did try those finger shadows, but I don't recall my Dad trying to show nw how.
No matter, your poem is heart-remembering.

This was sad to me. I could imagine a father who entertained his children by doing gand puppets, telling silly jokes, giving piggy back rides . But suddenly ripped away and the children watching the shadows for the familiar games of their father. Very sentimental. Gretchen

This poem reminds me so much of the shadow puppets my grandmother would make on a dark night, when the power was off in our village. You have captured the fun event that many children experienced.
