Very nicely written. Good work.
I wish people (politicians mostly) would not water down Memorial Day by including all veterans. We already have Veterans' Day. It's either ignorance, or pandering.
Good luck in the contest.

This story is so sad. Many young men have sacrificed their lives for our country. I am so thankful to them. The story is well written. I enjoyed reading it. Good luck in the contest.

There is no greater love, and your friend exemplified this. As did so many others valiantly giving their lives to defend what was right and true. I hope there will one day be closure for his loved ones. But God knows where he is, and will see that He receives justice and acknowledgement for his service to mankind.
Well written. A fine tribute to him.
Wendy

Thank you, Roy. Fifty-two years is a long time to not know. I can't imagine the grief Bobby's family still endures. He was an exceptional person. Thank you for your review. John

This is a very well written memory of a friend who gave his all. Viet Nam claimed too many of the men in our generation. Like you, I hope he can come home someday to his family.

Thank you for your service. There is so much to say and really so few words to express it. I'm hoping they will one day, open up the search again to be able to find Bobby. There are so many who love him waiting any word of his return to be honored at home.

Thank you, Liz. You're right, Bobby's is only one of many stories of that most unpopular war that carry their own unique sadness. For the sake of their families, I hope that one day the truth will be know for each and every one of them. I appreciate your kind review. John

This is a very well written true story you have penned about your friend, Bobby. I am so sorry that had to list him as MIA. You are right. You will see him again one day! Best wishes in the contest. Blessings, teri

What a very moving tribute, John, to your heroic friend! It must feel unfathomable to have known someone like this who just disappears without trace and I can only imagine your heartache and ongoing desire to have him recognised as he should be. Sadly, war tears people apart in ways that can't be easily healed. Your fine post powerfully illustrates this. Good luck! Debbie

Thank you, Debbie. You're right. All wars carry with them untold stories of such tragedies as Bobby's, the wounds of which may go unhealed. I appreciate your strong words and good luck wish. John

On this Memorial Day, I hope many people share your sentiments. The war was a mess, yet our brothers headed the call to serve. Unfortunately, way too many laid down their lives. I salute all who defended our country and flag.

I spent 30 years with the Dept. Of Veterans Affairs counseling young men as women as they returned home from the military. I just wish I could have welcomed Bobby home to continue his life with his family and friends. Additionally, I thank you for your courageous service. There is a cliche, "Some gave some, and some gave all." Bobby gave all for his country. Thank you for this true story tribute to a selfless young doctor and soldier.

I can tell by your comments that you were of great service to the Dept. of Veterans affairs and to the many servicemen you counseled upon their return. I salute you for your service. You summed up the tribute to my friend beautifully. Thank you so much. John
