Yes, it's true that we don't have to see too much to know something is wrong. We can just sort of sense it. Well, when our imagination doesn't run away and make a "mountain out of a mole hill," as the saying goes. LOL. Thanks for sharing. I don't eat a lot of bread, but buttering that bread has made me craze some garlic bread, fresh out of the oven. :-)

Lol. Go indulge in some bread with garlic and butter. You only live once. Thank you for this. I was worried I lingered on the breakfast scene a little too long. But if I inspired you to make fresh garlic bread, I'm satisfied. Gretchen

When we are confronted with a storm like a hurricane or tornado, we start to realize how little control we have over our lives. Storms can be terrifying to say the least. One of the bad things about being on an island is that you can't just leave and go further inland too easily. This was an exciting chapter Gretchen, but though it's only Monday, I'm already out of sixes. Well done gal. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
Have a blessed evening.

Thank you, Tom. I'm just like you. I ran through my sixes like a drunk sailor in Port. I wish Tom would at least give us 7. One for every day of the week. But enough about that. Thank you for this awesome review. If you've ever been through a hurricane, you likely won't forget it. Gretchen

That Lester has shone up is very concerning. Willis seems to be surviving the storm without too many problems. And the storm Heddy enjoys has just turned vicious, I suspect.

Yes. The storm has turned but Willis is okay during the day. Thank you so much for this. Gretchen

What a good finish to this episode Gretchen, Lester has been caught short somehow, the storm has obviously crested some sort of a problem there. Love the maturity of Heddy, she's empathetic and intelligent, beautifully written blessings Roy

You left a great hook here to make sure your readers return. I would have anyway, but now we're worried about Lester. Did something happen to the Collettes or was he left on his own? Great writing.

Comment from Debbie D'Arcy
It's the wind that is so creepy here and, despite Momma's best efforts and a quite normal, relaxed scene inside, there is an expectation that something is about to happen. Willis'exclamation breaks the mood and we discover Lester to be outside. A cliff-hanger and a half, Gretchen, as we await your next chapter to discover if Heddy's premonition is correct. To be honest, I thought it was going to be Artie. Excellent and looking forward to your next chapter. Debbie

Thank you so much. I had to stop it there. Lester deserves a whole chapter. Gretchen

Oh dear poor Lester! I'm worried now for him.
Comment from Esther Brown
Your attention to the tiny details of the storm are amazing. Sounds like a hurricane. I can picture the tree limbs flying and was impressed with the presence of mind of the family preparing for lights to fail. Good job. Esther

I live on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I'm very familiar with a hurricane. I'm glad this came across. Gretchen

Oh, Gretchen! What could have happened? For Lester to have battled his way in that story, it has to be serious. He must be so scared. What a storm this is, I've never been in a storm like you and some other countries have. What we call a big storm is when a branch breaks off the tree, and perhaps a greenhouse roof gets lifted. But saying that, the weather here IS changing. This was a splendid chapter, my friend, as they all are! :)) Sandra xx

I hope you don't wait long to post again. You know we've come to care about your characters. Something really bad must have happened for Lester to go out in that. Hurricanes often cause tornadoes that hit in unexpected placers. You have brought memories back for hurricanes I remember well.

I'm trying to post twice a week. Thank you so much for this terrific review and the bonus star. Gretchen
Comment from Wendy G
Excellent chapter! Descriptions of the storm and people's reactions are vivid and authentic, the relationships are well expressed. There is enough detail about the process of cooking the breakfast to bring the scene to life, but not so much as to be excessive. And that is a cliff-hanger to finish on!

You know I love a cliffhanger. Lol. The next part will be a full chapter in itself. I had to end it there. Thank you for the wonderful review and the extra star. Gretchen
