Well, it's obvious something isn't on the up and up. Now, we're not quite sure who's on whose side, and you've set up for an exciting climax to the story. Looking forward to finding out what happens to this intrepid foursome. Nice job of building the suspense.

Albion and the sheriff and the two men out back almost seem as if they are working together, but they all seem a little strange, especially when the two men are supposed to be state and claim they are county.

Man, you do a lot of writing, which doesn't allow me to reward much of it properly, since they only give us so many stars. But that doesn't mean that I enjoy your stories any less. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Poor Ben and Sylvia have it coming from all angles, it seems. But Ben will figure it out, with the help of God.

Benji to the rescue! He deserves more than pets; give that pooch some treats!

How many hours a day do you spend writing? I'm lucky to finish one short story in a month, but then I only write 2 hours a day maybe 5 days a week.

Have a great weekend.

smiley face here (hours a day writing)
Thank you for the very kind review.
Right in the Eye was done before I began posting.
I probably average way under an hour a day actually writing. Way more reviewing-for-dollars. (another smiley face here)

I don't think the two guys out the back are legit. Dogs are good judges of character, and Benji growled at them. The sherifshould have double-checked their credentials. Well written.

    Thank you.
But if all 'i's were dotted and all 't's were crossed, I fear most novels and movies would fail very early on.
I didn't want to totally surprise readers with an ending that they couldn't have possibly deduced.

I don't have a good feeling about those two unknown "state boys." If the sheriff doesn't know them, he should have checked them out and called the higher ups to verify.
I like how the older couples were able to get the "fishermen" with their two trombones to get packing.

Yes. I read and watch detective dramas and if they would only do as I say... there would be neither book nor movie! (smiley face here)
    Thanks again.

I don't know how you manage it, but your chapter get betterer and betterer! Must be your honoring of God within your story. Now you have me wondering why they avoided mentioning Antlers. I hive suspicions, but I'll let you tell your own story.

Your writing does a great job of building tension and suspense as Ben and his companions recover from the attempted attack by the gangsters. The use of dialogue and action sequences is terrific. It moves the story forward and really kept me interested. One strength of the writing is the portrayal of Ben's character. I love his on faith and his ethical approach to handling threats. The interaction between Ben and Sylvia adds to their relationship. Great job!
