Wow, this is powerful! The theme of your excellent story is topical given the prevalence of the disease and you convey a public message, never preachy but genuinely trying to make an impact that would resonate strongly. It's true that diabetes disproportionately affects the poor who often have less choice or knowledge when it comes to food. The cognitive dissonance arises when families do what they do through love and fail to see that their love is actually potentially killing their children. This was particularly well illustrated here, making your post a strong contender. Good luck! Debbie

A well-written, honest look at a worldwide problem. You personalize it, give it a face, making one story a thousand times more effective than a chart of statistics.
Thanks for sharing.

An excellent entry for the Cognitive dissonance contest. This story was amazing and sadly so true today. Eating healthy and feeding healthy food to a family is almost impossible for the average family at today's prices so we do what we can and then struffle with the eventual medical bills that come down the line. Very well written. nice job.
