Hi Monica
These a abcb quatrains desires how all teachers should be ,but aren't. That essay assignment was a godsend for you emotionally, psychologically and personally. I am glad the situation was resolved.
Congratulations on placing second in the contest.

Thank you for sharing Mrs. Mallett in this contest entry. Yes, many times a teacher is our saving grace. You did a wonderful job writing this entry and I wish you luck with the contest.

Thank you. I have had some of my former students tell me they wouldn't be who they are today if it hadn't been for me, which makes me feel absolutely wonderful.

I really like this tribute to your former teacher because (1) you set the scene so well clarifying how the assignment ultimately was the catalyst bringing you together, (2) you give us just enough backstory about yourself to explain why school was a haven, and (3) you go on to narrate how she remained your friend even after graduation. Your message--that a teacher can be a life-saver--really comes through. Sometimes your rhythm falters, but overall this poem is a strong entry. Rod

This is a beautifully written story and I can tell it is straight from your heart. I had somewhat the same situation when I was in school, but I never got comfortable with telling the teachers are telling my story to anyone. After I graduated high school, my friends thought That all those years, I had everything all together and yet I was dying inside. It wasn't until God took me to California where I'm at my loving husband that life changed for me drastically. I loved your story very very much and I wish you the very best. Patricia .

Thank you so much, Patricia. I have no idea why I chose to tell her, I just did.
