The ultimate compliment! I hope this gave you such a happy, warm and CONFIDENT feeling inside. What differentiates "writer" from "storyteller" for you?

This was a totally Feel Good post. I'm so happy you shared this vignette from your day. xoxo

To me, a writer knows the English language, both grammatically and fluently. A storyteller uses what ever language fits the character. I don't know grammar for squat. But I know how to tell a story. Lol. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Gotcha. That makes perfect sense to me.

I bow to your cleverness. Specifically. It is my viewpoint that those who do not like to read, were forced to read tomes of badly written school books and spit stuff back verbatim. They had a hard time with the boring, awful stories. They never had time for anything fun. Print her up Herman, she'll have a conniption. Good writing. Karen

I used to be a voracious reader, but fell out of love with it when it became tedious. Narrative as opposed to dialogue. Overly quirky characters. There has been some good published but a whole lot of crap has been pushed through. Thank you for this. Gretchen

I have a lot of writers I like, but sometimes even they phone one in. And now that any goofball with a couple thousand can self publish, I fear for the written word. Karen

That's so strange, Gretchen, because I've just been reading about Harriet Beecher Stowe who swore by her story-telling as akin to preaching from the pulpit. People would far rather learn about life from a story than wade through dry, factual data elsewhere. A little different from the theme of your post but, basically, everyone enjoys a good story and people who say they don't have just not found the right one. I'm not surprised she came back for more. Your stories are never pretentious or without deeper meaning. They engage and are very relatable. I think your strength is that you're always humble enough to want to stay on the reader's level and draw on universal subjects. You're, without doubt, one of the best on the site and modest with it, which is always good:) Take care Debbie

Well now, Debbie, this review just made me need a bigger hat. Lol. I do appreciate this. I failed creative writing in college, but excelled in high school. Go figure. I do love to tell stories. Always have. Thank you so much. I agree with Ms. Stowe. Dry and factual will put me to sleep. Gretchen

If she so calls hates to read why would she be looking at one of your books?

Last line says it all. When a reader returns for more of what you have written that is an awesome feeling and accomplishment.

Believe you have a fan there. Who knows, perhaps it will lead to others.

Congrats!

Writers are people who build sentences and shape them into paragraphs, hoping to string readers along with the action and/or conflict. But most aren't very entertaining. You are a story teller, and an enjoyable one. Someone who creates characters: mostly likeable, but with realistic flaws. Believable qualities and quarks. And people we gladly follow on their journeys. Thanks for sharing.

AMEN!!! I agree with you. I feel I'm more of a storyteller too. Mine are a little longer, but I've captured a lot of people. You need a HUGE star above you. You're great!!!!

This is good. I think of myself as a story teller too. I like telling non fiction stories which I guess I got from my grandfather and father. They never wrote anything down but they loved telling stories of which they were a part. Southern men have a way making their personal stories interesting.

Gretchen,
I feel this same way. It's better than money, isn't it? Loved this and I simply must have one of your books! How about my first published book for your first published book? I just had a book signing at a Foundation Fighting Blindness fundraiser and have some extras left over. Mine is: What The Blind Girl Saw. It's also on Kindle and Audible.
I look forward to reading yours because I love to read. Are you on Kindle? Audible?
Blessings, dear.
