I enjoyed this story and it held my attention throughout. It reminded me of a time when I was around 7 years old and had heard a private discussion between my parents about some people in town who had a competing business. I took it upon myself to ask the pastor for a meeting to pray for those people to not be so jealous of my parents. Lol. That was the last time they left me alone in the church while they packed up their stuff lol. Thanks for sharing. Good job.

Thank you Marilyn. I'm glad you like my story. I enjoyed your story as well. Kids are quite capable of embarassing their parents. Of course mine embarrassed me a few time too.

Your writing effectively looks at the innocent and imaginative mind of a child, juxtaposed with the practicalities and complexities of adult life. A lovely blend of childhood innocence mixed with humour and heartwarming moments. Thanks for sharing.

This is a really cute story, one that would be well-liked if shared. You might look into getting it published in a church magazine as it is about trusting in God's mercy. Well-written and entertaining.

"I would take whatever God had handy" LOL!

"but God's is going to send us something" - God is

Sentence that begins "Honey, what is your little green man doing? (You need to close your quotes)

A little green naked man, huh? What an imagination you had:-) Change "praying mantas" to "praying mantis"

This was a very entertaining story with your usual sense of humor. It also reminded me of something similar when I was a kid. I had a doll that I prayed to God he would make real so that I'd have a friend to play with. I was so disappointed when He didn't do it despite all my prayers.

Thanks for sharing this unusual story of faith.

Thank you Pam. I'm glad you fround it entertaining. That's for helping with spags. It is good to know I was't the only one who asked God to make a doll real. Congratulations on winning the Ode to Bobby Gentry. I loved that story and voted it would win.

Beth, thank you for the vote for my story. I appreciate it so much. I was surprised, as I thought Debi or Margaret would win.

What an entertaining story from the realm of childhood - a child's wishes and how they might come true. I love the part about touching the fur on the coats -The tone is so appropriate - as seen through the eyes of a child-wish I had 6 left.

Thank you Zanya. I guess I was a typical little girl but thiniking back some of the things I remember doing seem pretty naive and silly.

This is a very fun story to read, and I enjoyed it every bit. Little children do have a way of communicating with God. And your way seem to be very charming. I enjoyed the story immensely. May you have a blessed week and may God bless you this evening and tomorrow. Patricia

Thank you Patricia. I was convinced that God was real because Mom said so but I think I kept getting him mixed up with Santa Claus.

I enjoyed reading your story. It is funny the things we say when we are small. I think your poem is well written and interesting. I could follow along very easily. Great job.

My goodness you were such an adorable child - I'm sure you would have been a great friend to so many. I guess there weren't many kids your age in the neighborhood. I'm sure your mother was so happy to have you!

One comment:
what a Preying Mantas was. (I always thought it was "preying", too but it's "praying" ð???)

What a delightful story about your early experiences with religion, Beth. You certainly were an imaginative child with many unique ways of looking at things. Perfectly logical, though, based on your limited information.

It was quite amusing how you coincidentally volunteered to perform the church task none of the adults had volunteered for. What a trip you must have been!
