I'm glad Alan was able to get a fast-food meal, a good night's sleep and safe trip home without further incident. This was a very satisfying ending, with lots of motivational and inspirational statements about pursuing goals without giving up. I love stories where the characters all live happily ever after.

Thanks so much, Lorraine. I'm with you, and all my stories so far have happy endings. Alan deserved it for the good guy he is.

Aw, Jim, that was a satisfying ending. I can just visualise their mirth getting a bit over the top. It's like that when something bad has happened and it's beaten away. Ulla:)))

Thanks so much, Ulla. The pressure was finally off, and they could all relax now. Nothing but good times ahead.

This was a good reunion chapter after Alan's drama filled trip to get his hard drive back, Jim. All of Ginnie's worries and the what if's that would have been going through my head if I were her, were written well in the nervous laughter of the trio.
You have really shown that there is a silver lining if you look for it in life, and Alan found his, living next door.
Well done Jim.
cheers,
valda

Thanks very much, Valda. I like your thought about the silver lining. You'll see some more of that in the Epilogue tomorrow. That's the best way to try to look at misfortune.

This is a great when God shuts a door, He opens a window story. Thank you for sharing it with us. I can't wait for the ending, although, I don't want it end. I am enjoying reading it, and look forward to your posts.

This is is good chapter. I wonder if I could someone I was married to how close I came to dying without having the forever think I was capable of doing foolish things. Still being someone who could keep his hear under all that pressure speaks well for the person. If it had been me I wouldn't have stayed in that town overnight. If someone had set Warren free he might have come looking.

Thanks, Beth. I think Warren probably has a cracked skull and is in the hospital, so I don't think Alan needs to worry about him or Dennis either.

I could imagine what was going through Ginnie's mind, women tend to have a different perspective on danger, I guess men don't necessarily think of what might have happened if...You're a most imaginative writer, there was more danger the usual. Well done, blessings Roy

Thanks very much, Roy. I think you are definitely right about women's perspective on danger. They always tend to think the worst will happen, while men don't dwell on it but just do what needs to be done. They balance each other out, and the world is a better place for this.

Nice writing. Error-free as near as I can tell.
It would be a dilemma - what and how much of the danger to tell. Actually, though, I struggle with whether Alan should have called the law. There is no telling how much trouble he could be in after the two concocted lies.
Best wishes.

Thanks very much, Wayne. Yeah, he probably shouldn't have called the law because he was guilty of breaking and entering at the very least.

And to prevent Warren from crimes down the road.

I'm hanging on to my 6* for your finale although I would love to give it to you today! This really is an emotional read, Jim, and once again, you prove you can excel in many genres. The reactions are credible and heartfelt and I enjoyed the message of recovery and renewal here. Still a bit worried about any repercussions from the police but I guess those gangster boys aren't going to want to draw too much attention to themselves right now! Think Alan is coming out of this smelling of roses! Well done! Debbie

Thanks so much, Debbie. I agree that Warren, at least, wouldn't want to draw attention to himself. There may be a couple of bodies buried on the property somewhere, and he is also guilty of theft.

I hope you'll enjoy the epilogue, where everything gets wrapped up.

He has learned a lot, and he was right to tell them the whole truth. I just hope they don't come after him again for payback, now that everything has been sorted. A good laugh does indeed release the tension. Should he not inform the police about the attack on his life - attempted murder? Looking forward to the next, and feeling relieved that he is at least safely back home. I hope the conclusio will also mention the patent successfully received and perhaps how the production of his device pans out.
Well written.
Wendy

Thanks, Wendy. Everything will be neatly wrapped up at the end, probably more than you might expect.

I think Alan will probably leave well enough alone in regards to the police. He himself was guilty of breaking and entering. Plus, if Dennis doesn't survive, he probably could be charged with felony murder.

This feels like a good wrap-up already. Could you post your last chapter on Sunday? Saturday?
Anyway, what's clear is that Alan had a reason to live - not just have Warren dig his grave - but to see and be with his own family. Now that's a great motivation that he didn't have before!

It does sound like it could have ended here, but I've got to show how things end up over the next few years. If you like happy endings, I think you'll be pleased and perhaps get a surprise of sorts.

I've already announced it will come out on Friday, so I think I'd better stick to that. If you're going somewhere and won't be able to read it before it rolls off, you could always access my portfolio for it. Or, I could just email it to you if you would prefer that.
