As you can imagine, Carol, I can totally identify with this story. Although I've always known that I was adopted, spending my first 2 and12 year in an orphanage, I sometimes wondered where I came from. One day I made an effort and found both my birth parents and gained a brother and his family, with whom I'm very close. I also do Lund that I'm half American. I'm going to visit them all again in August. Can't wait. All the best in the contest. Ulla:)))

Thanks so much, Ulla. One thing Mike did find out from his birth certificate was that he was born in a different hospital than he thought and then was sent to an orphanage where the adoption was finalized. He doesn't remember any of that of course. I am so happy that things worked out for you.

So many things that happen to children could be avoided if a little forethought and consideration were given to the child, but seldom are. It's like they are an afterthought or don't have any stakes in the decisions. Thanks for sharing.

Hey there! I've been careful when I've been answering these because I forget which one's were blind and which were not. Thanks for the review. It was a difficult time for Mike since he also learned he was quite ill and his birth mother refused to give him any medical information. Thanks for reading and sticking with me.

His mother sounds heartless.

She was as far as I am concerned. She was 74 years old and refused to help him out because she wanted to keep her secret. Takes all kinds to make this world. Glad I'm not one of those.

This was great and not uncommon, now with all the ancestry and dna tests, people are discovering many surprising facts about where they actually came from,

My husband had no idea until he was handed that second birth certificate, a chance thing. Once he knew, he was filled with questions. Unfortunately, his birth mother rejected him again when he told her all he wanted was medical information because he was very ill. She refused.
Thank you so much for your kindness and the stars. I appreciate it very much. Have a great day.

Wow!
I couldn't imagine how I would handle a situation like the one written or the one lived by your husband. Honestly, I don't know anyone person who is adopted, si I wouldn't even know where to begin.
You told this story extremely well and is a great addition to the Revelation Flash contest.
Best of luck.

Thanks so much for your kind words and review. It was very difficult for my husband especially when he was rejected the second time and all he wanted was medical information because he was terminally ill.

Wow! I know that's heavy stuff at any age. My husband found out his mother wasn't his biological mother when he was thirteen. No one had ever told him she passed away from polio when he was four months old. It rocked his world for years. Thanks for sharing this and my best in the revelation contest.

Thanks so much Sally. He was shocked and then hurt again when she rejected him, unwilling even to supply information about his family's health history, something the doctors requested time and time again.

An excellent story for the revelation flash and told with your usual skill and aplomb! I'm always impressed when people can see the positive in any situation and I like the message that comes through here. A 'glass half full' man! Good on your husband for making the very best out of a situation that might have left others resentful and bitter. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Thanks Debbie. He was hurt, double fold, when she rejected him the second time as so harshly, but once we found his siblings and three of them met and accepted him, things were brighter. Thanks so much for the review and for understanding.

Sad that your husband's mother didn't want to acknowledge him, but she must have had her reasons. Your story is well- developedand interesting. Sending good wishes for your entry.

She was young and her family was very strict. She was sent to Illinois to have the baby, only to return if she left it behind. My husband's DNA said he was 75% - not 50% or 100%. The possibility that his father was a brother of the other siblings dad. Family secrets! Thanks so much for your kind review.

This is an excellent flash story with a beginning, middle, and ending. What an exciting thing to happen at age 30! I wonder his dragging his feet was a feeling that something was wrong. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

He always felt that something wasn't quite right, but he could never put his finger on it until that day. He went on quite a roller coaster ride. His birth mother was irate that she was found...no one ever knew about it except her parents who sent her out of state until she delivered him. She couldn't come back if she kept the child.
Have a great day!

I was drawn instantly into your story and characters. Very well written. I re-read it just to be sure, and I would not change a single word. I plan to follow your other offerings as time allows. You are good. Esther

Thank you so much for your kindness, Esther. My husband's birth mother rejected him a second time and it hurt him very much. He knew he was very ill and the doctors wanted information on his medical background but she refused. Life went on. Have a great day!

What a hard thing to find out. If it were me, and I had adopted a child I would frame up the certificate and put it on their bedroom wall. They would know from the start that they were hand picked. Not telling never works out well. My point of view only. You told this well. Karen

It definitely turned his world upside down. He was on a roller coaster for a long time. His birth mother was irate when we found her...she'd kept her secret for all those years and she wanted it to remain a secret. Of course, he felt deserted for a second time. Thanks for the kind review.
Have a great day!
